what a nice radial engine, this video is very helpfull because of the information about treatment, a friend of mine just bought a glow radial and asked me how to treat the engine after flying, i showed your video and is was completely clear to him Thnx ... btw, i mounted an extra breather nipple at the front cam housing because i cant take out the pushrods of my ASP FS400, before every flight i apply 2cc of oil into the breather nipple to make sure the cams are well lubricated, after use i close the fuel line and let it run dry and apply some extra after run oil into the Crankcase breather nipple

Thank you very much for your comment ! Definitely, all radials need to be lubricated more, than general single cylinder 4 stroke, due to the increased amount of moving and interacting parts. I think, that it was a great modification with extra breather, usually, I also adding more A.R.O. into engine, after run and brief cleaning from inside (in general, I don't dismantling the whole engine, just partially, to fill the engine with cleaning mix. I'm very appreciate you for your comment, hoping, your friend found the most answers in CrazyEngines videos. Thank you and have a nice day !

That is certainly a good looking engine. Better than the current UMS version with the black painted cylinder heads. In my opinion, of course.

Thank you very much for your comment ! Definitely, I'm not so well experienced with UMS engines, so I'm not at all sure if they ever had cylinders just aluminum, unpainted. This engine is about 3 years old, i.e. it's still young. I tried to look for slightly earlier versions of the 77th or 99th, with unpainted cylinder heads, so far I have not found it yet. Thank you !

@@Modelpilot Hello! Thank you for the interest in my old radial engine. I have not run it in a long time. Perhaps I will make another video some day. :)

Thank you very much for your comment ! I like it sound too, will be interesting to check, how it sounds without exhaust ring collector, so, it means, when each cylinder exhaust sounds independent. Thank you and have a nice day !

@@crazyengines88 I love the sound of the big MOKI engines in a scale warbird. It just sounds right. It's the same with the big KOLM engines too.

Not a bad running engine! Though that after-run procedure seems to be a bit of a pain in the rear....I'd probably just let the castor oil in the fuel do the work like I do all of my other 4-cycle engines. Run it out of fuel at the end of the day and store somewhere climate controlled. Makin' me want one of these...

Thank you very much for your comment ! Yes, I should say, that one gets the impression that working with this engine is quite difficult and a little troublesome. But having got to know this engine better, I’ll say that this is only the first impression, in fact, the design of the engine allows you to easily get access to the most parts, & well, to lubricate it in the style of the 1930's of the last century - as for me, for example, it’s more of a pleasure than load. Of course, doing such exercises every day could be quite a load. Among the radial engines, there are a couple of those that are a real horror to work with, compared to this. As for castor oil, for a number of reasons I avoid using castor oil in fuel and as an after-run oil. My little experience suggests that the best storage medium is a mixture of synthetic oils (3 and 1 oil, some kind of Mobil Dextron IV gear oil and Motul or Klotz oil). Of course, that is not for starting discussion or whatever - just a note from my small experience. Thank you and have a bice day !

@@crazyengines88 Ye its not too bad now, but put that thing on something like an A6M5, FW190, Corsair, Bearcat, Wildcat, P47, Waco, Stearman, and suddenly you're either swearing up a storm end of the day or shortcutting after run procedures. And if I had one that's most likely where I would put it. Aircraft with open radials arent really aircraft on my wish list and I dont buy engines to collect. I buy them to fly. As for castor....I wont fly without it. It does so much for the engine it feels wrong not to have any. I've seen a couple engines lose all of their bad habits solely by adding castor, too, was helping a buddy with an FS120 Surpass once and saw it happen. On Cool Power 15% it had horrid idle, transition, flamed a lot, refused to play nice. Swapp Cool Power for castor containing Omega and suddenly it ran like you would expect an OS Surpass to run. 🤷‍♂️ castor all the way for me.

@@TestECull Thank you for your opinion, that's great, that it based on experience and practice. I don't have so much practice, that's could probably a reason, why I don't use castor oil. I've few OS FS 120 Surpass with diff mods (pump, no pump, E-version, etc.). Most of them doesn't work, as I want, something was wrong. Will find a time in between test runs and else channel activity and definitely, will try to re-run it on castor based fuel. What do you think about Byron Aero Gen 2 fuel, it has some degummed castor oil in it ? What is your experience with castor oil, what percentage would you recommend ? Thank you !
@TestECull
@TestECull Жыл бұрын
@@crazyengines88 I don't have access to that stuff here but I would assume it to be fine. I have used Byron's in the past for surface stuff. ran great. My usual brew is Omega 15% from Morgan Fuels.
