UMX Pitts on 4S lipo

This is a video of my E-flite UMX Pitts S-1S BNF aerobatic scale model. Both flights are flown with RDQ 4S 300mAh LiHV battery packs, stock motor, ESC/RX board, and 2-blade propeller. The model has a 434mm wingspan and weighs 138 grams ready-to-fly. First flight was during rain, strong winds and gusts exceeding 25mph. The second flight was after storm had passed.

01:19 - Flying close in high winds
02:50 - Rain making TX wet
03:20 - Flight 1 gusty landing sequence
03:45 - Touch-down with zero ground speed
04:20 - Flight 2 take-off into vertical up line with 5 consecutive rolls
04:46 - Double snap roll on up line then resume rolling vertical climb
05:03 - Full-throttle level pass with 1.5 snap roll to invert
05:32 - Fast outside loop to outside snap roll
06:20 - High-speed knife-edge pass over runway
07:30 - Tumble spinning foolery

Good power on 3 cell, insane power on 4 cell, looked like a lot of fun even in the wind. Nice flying.

Thanks for watching and your nice comment. I fully concur, these things work great on 3S, and the extra power from 4S can be more fun and easier to fly in strong winds.

Which 4s did you use? Is the motor and esc handling the 4s

I have been using the RDQ (Gaoneng) 4S LiHV packs, from 300mAh to 380mAh range.

Right on, I am glad you enjoyed the video and hope you like your Pitts as much as I like mine. Yes that is a totally stock UMX Pitts that has been flown hard on 3S for past 11 months, then last weekend I flew it with 4S battery packs. It already is very capable and fun on 3S, but 4S makes it more better 😉 Can do larger, faster, crazier moves, and handles strong wind easier.

Wow, that Pitts is so much louder than Voodoo. Which do you like flying better, the Pitts or Voodoo and why?

You are right, it is. I like them both for different reasons...t the Pitts looks so cute and flies like a little-big Pitts to me, very aerobatic and yet scale looking, while the Voodoo is fast and zippy and a totally pedal to the metal adrenaline rush. Would recommend them both.

@@Planekrazy1 Yeah, that's the problem, I like them both. I'll probably go Mustang, but I need a transmitter first. I'm looking at the Radiomasters. I have a couple of RTF planes, and I'd like a multi-protocol transmitter to fly them with and my next plane, probably Voodoo. Thanks for the content. Any advice on buying a transmitter?

@@davescott9409 The Mustang/Voodoo with stock 4-blade prop sounds so quiet and it zips around pretty good with 3S packs. if you go with 4S be sure to remove 2 blades from stock 4-blade prop. For TX, i consolidated most all of my models the Radiomaster TX16S radios, the multi-protocol version. It takes a while to get used to OpenTX/EdgeTX but lots of good YT videos and online help.

@@Planekrazy1 Have you looked at the Radiomaster Boxer and TX12S? I like the smaller sizes, as I've gotten used to the small RTF transmitters. Thoughts?

@@davescott9409 I have not but believe RM also makes smaller game controller shaped radios as well. I thought the Boxer and 12S didn't come with the multi-protocol module that supports Spektrum for these UMX bind-n-fly models. But if they offer a way to add a module to those smaller transmitters perhaps that is something to consider.
