UN Chief's Urgent Call to G20 on Climate Action - Press Briefing | United Nations

Press Conference by António Guterres (UN Secretary-General) ahead of the G20 summit (New Delhi, India) at the UN House.
Secretary-General Guterres issued a strong call to the G20, urging concrete action against climate change. He emphasized the need for a united, ambitious, and immediate response, expressing concerns about the current lack of ambition, credibility, and urgency in global efforts to combat the crisis.
"I come to the G20 with a clear and urgent plea: we cannot continue as we are. We must unite and act for the common good," he stated, highlighting the worsening climate crisis.
Guterres called for a halt in licensing and funding for new fossil fuel projects, aligning with the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels.
To address these challenges, Guterres called on OECD nations to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 and emerging economies to do the same by 2050. He also urged major emitters to intensify emission reductions and wealthy nations to fulfill their climate finance commitments, aligning with the G20's theme of "One Earth, One Family, One Future."
Emphasizing unity and cooperation among nations, Guterres warned against divisions, rising tensions, and eroding trust, which could lead to catastrophic consequences.
"All of this is attainable, but it requires collective action. No nation, region, or group, not even the G20, can do it alone. We must act as one family to save our planet and secure our future," Guterres concluded.

The countries that are producing 80% of carbon emissions are producing for 8B people, that includes food, all technology, medicines, and all aid and loans to those same developing countries. If the developing countries would take care of their own needs, carbon production would drastically go down in developed countries. Taxpayers would not have to work 2 jobs to pay aid and free loans to developing countries…. that would also reduce carbon emissions. Reduce the population, that would also reduce carbon emissions.

Family’s are struggling to make ends meet while our government are now threatening UK homeowners with up to £15.000 fine or potential one year in prison for not adhering to a new energy performance regulations. How on earth can people afford to provide for their family members especially when we are taxed up to the hilt and for this green agenda.
