Felt like all my life: my dad played the classical guitar, initially I felt it was old-fashioned, he died of heart problems than I (way too young) started really listening to the stuff, realized that older music stuff was actually not only not "not cool" but, omg, the wisdom imparted! Then many years later there was the internet and there was people like Alexandra just bludgeoning me in my soul about these kind of pieces and I realized I was fortunate to relate. I'm no player myself, but I wish this stuff passes on through the generations between people who understand it because Humanity needs things like this to remember what it feels like to be a loving and feeling human. I'm exhausted by this, in a good way, cheers.

I just listened to over an hour of a classical guitar competition at Siccas in Germany. Twelve classical guitarists. All Bach pieces on various guitars. Amazing guitarists, but after a few played, I was bored to death. I watched the entire competition, and no winner was declared. They were all so good I don’t now how any on could choose one over the other. Of course, an expert probably could. Then I listen to a piece such as the. one above by by Cuban composer and classical guitarist Leo Brouwer played by Alexandra. She’s part of this moment, while, to me, listening to the competition was like listening to people from a graveyard. Alexandra sparkles. She makes classical pieces out of a Beatles’ song and “Wild Mountain Time,” and even when she plays more classical pieces, the sound contemporary to me. But, of course, that’s just me. I’m hardly an expert on anything. I just know what I like to listen to. And I like listening to Alexandra.

Beautiful, clear in tone quality, and one of my favorite pieces of all time! Within this piece Brouwer showcases Cuban music in a most beautiful and meloncoly way! I, as an American composer, am working towards this goal within most of my works to show others how and what life is like in the U.S. but also to touch the hearts of people beyond my borders at the very same time! This is what Brouwer has done within this piece! This is not skill or talent it's mastery!!

Amazing camera work. You can get a fairly good result with good education and lot of work. But this one goes far beyond "being professional". This is pure talent, something no amount of education and work can give you. Pure art form on it's own right.

Really? She was filmed in shadow for most of the video. I would have loved to have seen her technique rather than the filmmaker's "vision".

@@jeffendicott8754 So you don't like art? Why? Because you can't understand it. Nothing special there. Vast majority of people are limited to very rudimentary understanding of art, or none at all. If there's no specific pathways formed in your brain even the generic concept of art is alien to you. Looks like that's exactly the case here. This is sad, but, hey, it's not like it's your fault. Gotta play with the hand you're dealt...
