4:30 “Pushing into the unknown” I could really relate to that! There’s a jasmine vine in my backyard and as it grows, it’s always sending out little tendrils trying to find a branch or something to hold on to. If it doesn’t reach after a few weeks, the plant reroutes itself into a different direction trying to find support for future growth. But the plant never says “I’m scared this path won’t work.” It just grows and makes adjustments as necessary. I’m working on having the confidence of that jasmine. Also, thank you for your time making this video and sharing it with us 🙏🏻

First I must say you’re a blessing to the community. Your videos are awesome with great info so I had to subscribe. Truth. My personal photography work, which has very little to do with my professional work, is what gets me work. I get out there and shoot, see and be seen, and network literally on the street. Get pit and shoot whenever you can and ignore the naysayers.

I heard you say when you were in photography school. I’m trying to decide if i should go to my local tech school for photography or continue teaching myself. I don’t really have anyone to practice on except my girlfriend. So I’m wondering is school worth it?

depends on the tech school and the person that got the job as "teacher". if they are a working pro with years experience. hells ya. but likely they are an enthusiast that understands apertures and shutterspeed and has packaged that info and called it a tech course. I'd join my upcoming masterclass or take the last spot in my mentorship program. i have 9 in. i take 10. i close the button sunday evening whether i have 10 or not. i'm raising my prices next round and changing the requirements. soon it will be an application process and $150 more than it is currently. stevecarty.com/learn i'm building out an entire education program for people just like you. pro photography education is non existent or shit. i'm here to change that.

My first impression was that you are an interesting and optimistic guy. I would never imagine you having the life you described before... There are so many distractions in this world. You hit the nail on its head with comparison to gaming. 👍 Congratulations to you that you have turned it around and big thanks that you share so much wisdom with emerging photographers.
