Commemorations for International Holocaust Remembrance Day took place across Aotearoa New Zealand in honour and remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust and marking the 77th-anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp by the Soviet Army in 1945. The theme for this year’s commemorative events was resistance.
HCNZ and all who took part in the commemorations recommitted themselves to fighting Holocaust distortion and denial, racism, antisemitism, discrimination, and apathy.

Memorial candle lighting by Holocaust survivors, Second-Generation Holocaust survivor, daughter of a Righteous Among the Nations couple, members of the diplomatic corps for the European Union Delegation, the Republic of Poland, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Chief Human Rights Commissioner and HCNZ board member/LGBTQI+ community member.
HCNZ thanks all who participated and attended this, and all commemorations around Aotearoa New Zealand.
