UN Security Council holds emergency meeting after Russia launches invasion of Ukraine | FULL

The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting Wednesday evening at the request of Ukraine after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a “special military operation” in eastern Ukraine, telling the West not to intervene in what appeared to be the beginning of war in Europe.
Putin said in an early televised speech Thursday the action was in response to threats coming from Ukraine, yet insisted Russia doesn’t have a goal to occupy the country.
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged Putin to “give peace a chance” and stop troops from entering Ukraine.
Russia’s U.N. ambassador Vassily Nebenzia later confirmed the operation in Donbas at the meeting, but admitted he did not have all the details on what was unfolding. He insisted, however, that military action was meant to end years of conflict in the region.
Ukraine’s ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya confronted Nebenzia and the rest of the council, calling on the U.N. to “stop the war.”
Bob Rae, Canada’s ambassador to the United Nations, called what is happening “a grotesque war crime.”

That’s all anyones sending lol. If this was 1945 and a sovereign country was under attack, the entire world would mobilize. Do you know WHY they’re not? Because Putin has made clear his reasons for being there - Kyiv is creating missiles. Is this true? Is it not? You don’t hear anyone disputing it, and sending in troops will make it look as if we are defending it. If Putin finds American missiles, it will be America crying for help and nobody coming to help us. Also, circa the reign of one President George W. Bush - the world watched as a son finished his Daddy’s war, claiming a witch hunt for “Nucular Warheads” and “weapons of mass destruction”. WMDs were NEVER found. All Putin is doing, is exactly what the US has done countless, countless times to other countries for its own game. The world will watch. And that’s all they will do.

@@HypoRealFacts In the era of mutually assured destruction thanks to nukes, the only wars that happen are on nations without nukes, lo and behold Ukraine doesn't have one nor was it ever a member of a military alliance, given that Russia already bullied neighboring Georgia and took over Ukraine's Crimea 8 years ago, this was bound to happen and no one will do anything to help Ukraine because it would risk Hiroshima events on partaking countries. Adore him or loathe him, Putin knows what he wants and how to do it, if sanctions are the only setbacks, then he will continue on.
