It is necessary to master the language very well, that must be fluid and quite precise rhythmically. To succeed in a recitative, you must be a good actor as well as a good singer. The accompanied recitative belongs to the family of arias, it is more lyrical, with much longer phrases. The secco recitative in Handel and Mozart requires great technical mastery as well as real dramatic talent.
