I've lost my uncle to pancreatic cancer three months before Alan's passing. He was 72. He fought with this stupid disease for 8 months. And I remember three or four months prior to him having any symptoms, his skin became really pale, almost yellow-orange-ish in a way and he lost weight. Now I wonder if at the time of this interview Alan had already been diagnosed, or he had no idea. Because I look at him and it sooo hits home with the pale face...it'd be so sad to know he didn't realize something was wrong even before the small stroke he had, which is how he eventually got the diagnosis... :( Stupid cancer. Took away one of - if not the most- talented actors out there! You and your art will be loved and missed, Alan. Always. ♥

Cancer is the worst... I lost my stepfather from a cancer a few months ago it's so hard (he was only 61...). I was a huge fan of Alan Rickman for many years and when I heard he passed away 4 years ago I was so sad even though I didn't know him.

I am sorry for your loss. Especially pancreatic and liver cancer is really bad. Both are mostly diagnosed to late and spread very fast. My father died at the age of 53 in may 2016 from liver cancer 4 weeks after the diagnosis.

Alan did have cancer here and did know about it, unfortunately. :( He was diagnosed sometime in the summer of 2014. If you want to listen to more about this, I recommend the podcast "A Life Lived". Juliet Stevenson, who starred with Alan in Truly, Madly, Deeply, and Alan's two brothers both talk extensively about his life and go into A LOT more detail about his sickness. Very sad about your uncle. Hope you're doing okay.
