Switzerland won Eurovision, leading in a contest marked by last-minute changes and backstage incidents.
Nemo, the first non-binary winner, combined rap, rock, drum 'n bass, and classical opera in their performance, even balancing on a spinning disc while singing.
Their song, which quickly took the lead, promotes self-acceptance and freedom from judgment. Upon receiving the prize, Nemo said that they hope for the contest to uphold peace and performed their song to close the show.
Eurovision fanatic Cristo speaks with Dr Renee Hoenderkamp and caller Anne in Sussex who alleges that she was prevented from voting for Israel in the competition.

@@Test_Card_Tomtell that to the violent protesters and other contestants. They didn’t get the memo! Israel had the best song, the Eurovision didn’t even deserve it. How songs such as Ireland’s, UK’s and Finland’s got in is beyond me, they were quite disturbing. And they told Israel to change its song. We are living in an upside down world, I guess…

@@c23411 What violent protesters? There were none inside the building where the contest was held because they would have been swiftly ejected. Who likes what song is a personal choice - you liked Israel's. I thought it drab. I liked Sweden's song best. But the juries and the public voted for Switzerland's entry (my second favourite). That's democracy. Oh and the European public obviously didn't care for the UK entry, and neither did I. Olly has made some great songs with Years and Years but Dizzy wasn't very good.

Since October 7th i really feel betrayed by the world, i see how "humanitarian organization" completely justify murder of civilians, while blame us for an imaginary genocide. I see how college students around the world basically want me dead without even knowing me, and the hate is EVERYWHERE. I never wanted this war! NO Israeli ever wanted this war! my firend lost and arm! You think i wanted this? ,honestly? I never wanted to be Jewish i was just born one. But i am who i am, and if the world has a problem with that then to hell with them. Thanks for all the people who supports us! This is really really not forgranted! 1.

If we focus solely on the public vote in Eurovision, which I consider to be the genuine reflection of music lovers' preferences rather than the decisions influenced by political motives, a clearer picture emerges. Let's examine the data: In the Eurovision 2024 public vote, the top 5 countries were: Croatia - 337 points Israel - 323 points Ukraine - 307 points Switzerland - 227 points (tied) France - 227 points (tied) To me, these numbers represent the authentic sentiments of the audience, with Israel ranking second and so forth down the list. The rest seems to be steeped in political maneuvering, which is regrettable. The discrepancy is glaring, particularly in the case of the Swiss singer, whose tally does not align with the public's preferences. This trend undermines the credibility of Eurovision as a music contest and emphasizes its transformation into a platform for political agendas. There appears to be no correlation between the quality of the songs and the points awarded, as countries seem more focused on leveraging votes for political gain. If Eurovision wishes to maintain its relevance, it must relinquish the influence of these country-appointed judges and prioritize the voice of the people. Politics has no place in a competition meant to unite people through music. The repeated interference of political interests tarnishes the purity of the event, casting doubt on its future participation from talented artists, advertisers, and television networks. Despite these concerns, it's likely that vested interests will persist, driven by the allure of power and influence. Moreover, the infiltration of political agendas is not the only issue plaguing Eurovision. It now serves as a platform for dissenters who exploit freedom of speech to propagate hate and division. Their actions, fueled by Iran and its proxies' money in various organizations, under the guise of protest, only serve to disrupt events aimed at fostering unity. It's ironic and unfortunate that such individuals, whom I would refer to as moderate Nazis, find space to spread their messages of hatred under the guise of freedom of expression. This undermines the very essence of Eurovision and threatens the collective enjoyment of people worldwide, especially those who advocate for peace and inclusivity. Adding to the irony, the Eurovision, meant to foster peace between nations, now faces this challenge in light of recent events. The tragic history of over 1400 Israelis murdered, kidnapped, and raped during a peace festival underscores the urgent need for events like Eurovision, aimed at promoting harmony and understanding among countries. Yet, these atrocities continue to cast a dark shadow over such gatherings meant for celebration and camaraderie.
