1k in world of memory is used for 2^10 and other wise it's 1000. (bits is smallest unit like voltage is 5V -> 1 and 0V -> 0) after that 8 bits = 1 byte, 1024 bytes = 1kb, 1024 kb = 1mb, 1024 Mb = 1 GB) ..
