How the viceroy lord lytton and lord ripon helps to built nationalim among indians. British rule in india was vigorous in time period of 1858 to 1905. During this period national feeling was generated in the minds of people. Lord lytton was viceroy in between 1876-1880 he was a reactionary viceroy.during his tenure famine affected in madras bombay, Mysore and some parts of central india * In 1876 british government passed royal charter act under this act British queen victoria honoured with kaiser-e- Hind. in 1877 they organise delhi darwar this was a crucial step of Britishers indirectly they promote the nationalism among people. Lord lytton also passed vernacular press act 1878 it was also called as Gagging act.under this act British empowered to issue search warrant against local language presses this movement also helps to built freedom movement. However lord rippon try repeal vernacular press act 1882 and he face criticism from britisher. Rippon was liberal and kind gesture man.during his tenure he tried to change in adminstration reforms and establish local self government 1882. In his time The ilbert bill controversy between Britishers and indians. it also promote the nationalism indirectly.
