Been a lifetime fan, and now, at the ripe old age of 87, I still am. This film is 95 years old and will continue to be viewed and enjoyed in perpetuity. So all you folks in times to come, are in for a great treat. Kind regards to any and all Stan and Ollie fans reading this. England, February, 2024.

In addition to everything else, Stan invented the idea of falling down the stairs OFF CAMERA, while the pain and destruction of his descent played out in the sound effects, Ollie's reaction, and the audience's imagination. And Ollie -- who else could express so much chivalry and flirtation--simultaneously--into just saying the lady's name? Greatness.

Instead of hopelessly fighting the arrival of talking films, Laurel wisely embraced it, and was soon writing gags to accommodate the new technology. Not long after this they even began filming different versions of their films in foreign languages until dubbing became practical.

Thank god for the invention of film. Its allowed every generation to enjoyed classic comedy like this. Laurel and Hardy have generations to be comedians also. The timing of these 2 was just brilliant . I cry laughing every time I watch them. When I was a child in the sixties they would be on tv on a Sunday afternoon usually after the Addams family another show i love. With the world the way it is we need more laughter. I'm 62 now and still love them. Stan and Ollie were the perfect pair. Stan would do something and Ollie would pay for it by getting blown up or slipping on something. You would laugh because you knew it was coming. Pure magic.

a sign of stans genius in writing is here in their first foray into sound the first few minutes make a point of using verbal jokes like the neighbours name and ollies wife and him arguing over each other rather than instantly going into the physical comedy they were renowned for.It shows instantly how well the duo were able to perform in the new medium.

For me, pure comic genius of it's day. The way Mr Kennedy is on lying the floor and the way Stan pretends to faw down the stairs. I, always have to make sure I am not eating or drinking when watching these two. Otherwise it can get slightly messy for whatever is directly in front of me. How on earth they discovered this talent / routines they had is nothing short of a miracle. Thanks to technology their genius can be saved for future generations. Response to video only.
