Beaming it or moving it likely wouldn't help. Anyone setting explosives worth their salt would have rigged the bomb to explode the moment its moved in any way, beamed or otherwise. Moving it or beaming it would likely make it go off.

@AchangelTyrael Another interesting Fallout connection @SharpAngus reminded me about. Remember Tranquility Lane, how the "failsafe" in the abandoned house works? Same idea as this bomb "puzzle." The only difference is in Fallout 3, you're not waiting for a snail paced CD-ROM drive to find and play an "Exploding Ship" sequence then re-load the puzzle after each failure, and then end the game after 3 tries, thus negating any usefulness to the "Name That Tune" hint. >_

The end of this part reminds me of the stupid criminal story where the robber went through the drive-through at a bank and sent a bomb via the vacuum lift then held up a remote detonator. The teller sent it back and turned off lift...Point being...just telleport the detonator off the ship...

I hated this part so much in the actual game. I had to write it down in the manual once I figured it out, lol. While I"m commenting I'd like to say thanks for uploading this on here :) I still have my disc for this game, but the quality on here is a lot better for some reason.

@mlodge87 my guess is the device is more sophisticated than it looks, and that removing it from the node and/or removing the node far enough from the ship would somehow cause the AMCF to fail or explode or whatever. Otherwise they would have just ripped it off of the damn thing. But yes it does feel like it's an unrealistic plot device.

@possumverde I've thought about this. It's a big oversight. I give alot of credit to Hilary Bader for putting the story together, but this is one place that could have used some fixing. That is to say, it could have been annotated to include something that made beaming it out a non-option, like something that made the core blow if the detonator ceased to exist or fail to send a continuous signal. Maybe a transciever near the core that makes the AMCF fail. But that's all just Deus Ex Mayo.

Yes! In the actual game, you're given 3 chances to guess by pressing the actual buttons, but as soon as you press the wrong button, KABOOM. It is the WORST part of the whole game! OK, let's say for example that the correct sequence was simply [R] [G] [B]. So you try this... . [G] BOOM! . [B] BOOM! . [R] [B] BOOM! 3 chances gone! Elimination is useless. What's worse is the only clue is the tones each key makes, but you don't know which button makes what tone till you press each one.
