I mean exactly what I said, back in 2011/2012 the majority of the scene were similar styles to matter in this battle, basic comedy etc, I’m not saying matter was bad, I’m just saying that battle rap as an art form has moved past that and simple comedy bars (even if they’re somewhat funny) aren’t going to win a battle against someone of the calibre of Unan nowadays

This really makes it appear more like a bunch of disconnected jokes than a coherent round. It's not densely woven material but it's not the same as the random lines thrown together style either.

I felt that Matter slightly edged the first, really fucking funny round from him - but after that Unan just took over. I knew the moment that I finished watching his battle with Diz that he had the potential to be a real top tier battler, and this performance just proves it. To have that level of energy, intensity and showmanship in terms of the execution and his overall performance, in a socially distanced room with only a handful of people in it, shows why he’s so good at this shit. Not many battlers could make you forget the fact there’s no crowd just because the bars and performance are so damn good, yet that exactly what Unan did. Comfortable 2-1 win for a worthy champ.
