First timer, I'm 63 retired with joint disease so can't do model making/painting, I started at age 10 with airfix kits, but 00 napoleonic soldiers and then 19th century ships were my favourite, but once I started dioramas made whole thing better, not saying I was any good but I loved it. Even tried hms victory kit in wood, weekly magazine new parts each week steam to bend hull planks and more. Your work is amazing 👏 and I'm so jealous 😅, but I subscribed anyway, thankyou and wow 👌 👏

Gigantometrus Orthrus, or the two headed giant swamp scorpion is as unique for its choice in habitat and neck as its size and strange double heads. Most scorpions have a head attached to their torso and are native to deserts, drowning if left too long in water, but this mutation defies both evolutionary traits. Extremely territorial, once it stakes an area as its own, anything larger than a house cat that sets foot in this area is considered an enemy. The two heads are not, in fact, two separate entities, but rather each head houses half of the brain. This is believed to be because during mating, female arachnids often eat their mate, so this way, the female will only get one of the heads. Worth noting, female arachnids are usually much bigger and our research has only uncovered males of the species.
@eyrist13692 жыл бұрын
god i love this- adds so much more immersion to the diorama already !! thank you for this !!
@glenngriffon80322 жыл бұрын
It is worth noting that scorpions normally have very poor eyesight but this species possesses remarkable acuity in both heads, being able to find prey in a wide variety of light conditions. They also seem to have evolved lungs that resemble a vertebrates as opposed to the usual book-lung structure, allowing them to grow to a much larger size. These animals also lack many sensory organs found in normal scorpion species such as pectines and chalicerae. These reasons and more have caused a wide debate in the scientific community of whether these creatures should be classified as scorpions or be placed in a new, unique Order by themselves.

Nice details, esp inside the house. I know most crafters try to get rid of the bubbles, but having bubbles here makes it look better. The only complaint I have is more of constructive criticism: the surface of the water is too still around the tail. Since it's poking above the water, there should been ripples around it.
@DBradar2 жыл бұрын
She usually does, which is the weird thing. My guess is she did the video before fully finishing, because not only did she not do her usual ripples across the top of the water and around the tail, but also did not sand the sides.

When she was a girl, Cynthia's mother told her a story about a princess trapped in a tower, guarded by an evil beast. Cynthia's mother is dead now, as are all her kin. It happened suddenly one day, when they found Cynthia's grandfather on the porch... A huge hole in his stomach like he'd been stabbed. His head burned with fever and his eyes were glazed over with terror as his mouth foamed. They only got one word out of him before he died... "Orthrus" They knew not where the creature came from or how it got into the swamp surrounding their mansion, but ever since it did, the swamp has begun eating away at their property, until no escape was left. One by one, the family fell. Either felled by the stinger or dragged underwater by the claws. The house is dark and lonely. The water creeps ever so slowly toward the door. Cynthia survives off rain water and insects. She awaits the day when someone will brave the swamp, kill the beast, and rescue her from this awful place. There is a princess, trapped in a tower, guarded by an evil beast.

Fun fact about arachnid anatomy: They have these things called “cephalothoraxes”, a term anyone with knowledge on anatomical terminology will understand as basically just meaning “head torsos”.
