Unbelievable Abandoned Mansion that was Once a Hotel! | (Why Did They Leave?)

A fair amount of mystery surrounds this abandoned hotel and we were unable to find much recent history on it. Back in the 1940's the place was used temporarily as a girls school for evacuees fleeing the troubles of war. I found lots of information and pictures on the place from that era, unfortunately I cannot share this as it would give away the location, even though soon after we went here this place was hit by the "urbex tour bus" resulting in many of the beautiful things you see in this video getting damaged or stolen and being investigated by police. Which is a massive shame because that is NOT what this community is about. The recent history as I said is hazy at best. We know it was a hotel, but cannot find any details on what it was like, when it closed etc. At best guess, the company that owned it was dissolved in 2018/19 and it appears to have been abandoned since that date. As a result it is one of the cleanest abandoned locations I have ever been to, but if you look a bit beyond the surface, evidence of decay and neglect are there. With water damage, mold, dust and spider webs all over the place. Even zombie spiders in the kitchen & basement.
Update: I have been contacted by the owners of this property now and while they are happy for me to keep the content up, they have asked me to add to posts that the place is not abandoned and please do not go here. They now have on site security and will be securing the place. So please avoid from now on)

Twenty seconds in and I am assuming the owners abandoned recently or they have someone coming in to clean because there is so little dust on everything within this short bit I have watched. Even if I am wrong I still find it incredible that so much would be left behind and the part I find most interesting is how this place is likely how we end up with the other abandoned properties you find which have been left alone for decades. You may be documenting the very start of a future urban explorers find. I apologise if these seems overly dramatic/poetic/pretentious but I absolutely love history and I see urban explorers as people who are creating little video time capsules which will be valuable to future generations. Good stuff as always Tazer :)

This is only the 2nd or 3rd time I would say we have ever got into a place like this. The first time was the video on the channel called the carehome mansion or secret mansion, I think I've changed the title a couple of times, but that one got out because of someone we went with and it always bugged me cause everyone else was really careful not to give any details out or disclose the location, but it still got out anyway, and that place is now a urbex highway and is completely trashed. Its a catch 22 cause in a way I feel the same way you do that at least we managed to document it before it got that way, but then on the flip side I'm like, man if we had not taken that person there the place might be ok now. In truth, we weren't the only ones to know about it. We were the first in, but on the way out we bumped into another explorer so obviously it wasn't just us. So yeah i'm glad we did get in there and document it. As it was in that moment, which is kind of the point of urban exploring in the first place. Just hope this place doesn't go the same way as that place. Would be a shame to see.

Guys, It's a tragedy when places like this get trashed. I've done vulnerable building protection and am technical, practical and a gardener. So can keep things working, cameras, alarms, locks, drains, keep the greenery at bay, maintain signs-of-life, provide contractor and delivery access and call the police if needed. If you are in contact with any owners who need a solution, that is not expensive like commercial(often utterly useless) security, monitoring systems or metaling the doors and windows(with the repair work when removed), then I'd be happy to talk with the owners about providing effective protection for their building and business. On sites like this I'd do it for expenses and a small maintenance budget. I could probably save them even that cost by turning off systems that weren't being used and keeping stuff in working condition. I'm saying this because these places are often in a bankruptcy type situation and know they can't make commercial contracts and don't have huge funds. Also I've been burgled in the past and I know what that feels like. I can't imagine how many time greater it feels to have a place like this robbed and trashed, especially after you have just lost your business. Please contact these owners to see if it is an option that might interest them. Or any other owners where you find a site's existing security lacking. Even if they chose another option, it's quite likely they are underwhelmed with it and it's giving them another reason not to sleep well. Yeah see this is why I wanted to try and show some of the worst bits as when ant from abandoned seekers put his video up people had a go cause they said it wasn't abandoned. But if u look around enough u can easily find signs of decay. Even if most of the place looks clean af.

What a fantastic place. It looks like the staff just stepped out for a moment and I expected to see patrons coming in to their rooms any second. The signs of decay and rot were so shocking because the rest of the building was so pristine. I feel so bad after you mentioned that it has been vandalized after your day there. What a shame.

It really is a shame that people decided to damage after we left unfortunately that is a trend of the hobby. There are good decent explorers then those who piggy back on the hobby to steal and destroy. Such a shame cause it's a beautiful place.

Did you know Tazer, that place is incredible 😂😂🤣,so sad that it s been left to the wilderness, that pool table must have cost a bomb, those green chairs were amazing, most of it is not in bad shape, but the outside is definitely getting in there. I wonder if they were evicted and not given much time to get there things. Very strange goings on. It would be great to know the full story of that beautiful abandoned house. Thanks Tazer. Xxxx

8:10 - If those letters are genuine and not some sort of plant for a mystery weekend then I am so very sad because such such things belong in a museum. I apologise if I seem to be overly dramatic but all of this is history and one never knows how important it may be. To see such things left in place to decay is really very sad. Years ago I saved some letters from a skip that belonged to a veteran of the first world war. His widow had kept them but the people rennervating her property after her death had just tossed them in the skip. I donated them to a historical society (after reading them myself), and I know they included a lot of stuff any historian would love to read. Maybe I'm getting old and sentimental but to me these things are more valuable than gold.

See i have to admit I thought that they were a little to "new looking" to be genuine, so maybe they are something that has just been made up, but they were also stored in a case, so I guess it depends how long they have been in there.

Enjoyable video… lovely place… shame about those that found it after your group…. In the video you mentioned the hotel company went into administration a few years ago…. It looks honestly though like people just fled.. I can understand leaving some belongings but who leaves there memories like photos etc… I can’t help but think there was something else in play… Bet it cost a pretty penny for a nights stay and can I just ask what was with the sit down toilets facing each other talk about awkward

If bailiffs come sometimes people are given less than an hour to leave. They ought to give staff longer really though as it is clear they are not the owners that owe money. Unless they were owners too. It looks like that place has been closed for quite a while.
