I live in Holland now for53 years married to a Dutchman who I met at 18 on holiday in Spain in 1971. But I remember in England Woolworths as a child with a squeaky wooden floor and a refreshment bar at the end with coffee, tea, hot Horlicks, hot chocolate drinks and fresh drinks with cakes biscuits and other delicious bits. Then of course Marks & Spencers where my mum bought her butter. Ladies with nets over their hair scooping chunks of butter out of metal open containers with big wooden flat spoons, patting it into a perfect square shape, weighing it and wrapping it beautifully in greaseproof paper to take home. And for Jess... Sweet shops where they made it infront of you . Coming out of a funnel machine in a very long sausage shape, and being cut into chunks with big scissors in pointed white sweet bags. Delicious 🤪 Lovely times!

Do a cup of oats mixed with a yoghurt I use a vanilla yoghurt .. mix together pop in a serving glass or bowl .. pop on mixed frozen fruits pour a few on let them defrost sat on the mix pop in fridge bit cling wrap over best in a glass or a trifle little bowl so juices of fruit go top to bottom into mix .. can pop a spoon of sugar over if berries a little sour .. it’s beautiful full of goodness five a day ..

Your nan would absolutely love Betty's Tea Rooms, there's one in York and one in Harrogate. It's a beautiful place to go for lunch or afternoon tea and it would take her back in time to years that she would probably remember with great fondness.

try some oolong tea Jess it's not bad and you might find you like it , I don't drink coffee and oolong is the only tea I like and will drink with a few sugars it is quite nice and can drink it hot or cold... Give it a try :) and its very good for you as well speeds up metabolism :)

My nanna worked in woolworths in the 50 s till she left and went to work in a bakery till she was 72 . She died in 2003. Miss her everyday.
