It's because geographically, we are surrounded by Pacific Ocean where mostly weather disturbances develop. But also because, even we are hit by typhoons 12 or more times a year, we are always resilient. We stood out of those catastrophes! Typhoon Paeng is so wide that it mostly covered and affected the whole Philippine Islands.

Typhoons don't hit us every year, but the whole year through. We name our typhoons alphabetically, so the fact that it is named Paeng, it means it's the 16th typhoon to have hit us this year, and the year is still going.

8:52 that was in Patnongon, Antique Antique province was badly hit by the storm even if we weren't at the path of Paeng. Above 300 mm of rainfall was recorded all over Panay Island within just 5 days, leaving the provinces of Antique, Aklan and Capiz in widespread flooding. Antique recorded the highest death toll in Western Visayas and the whole Visayas area. Maguindanao in Mindanao was the worst hit, those provinces (del Norte and Sur) are very flat in terms of topography.

This typhoon affected the whole country. The country is very vulnerable because of the typhoons consecutively coming for the past weeks. This year is crazy typhoons coming one after the other without a break. It gives me of that plants vs zombies final wave vibe.

Ovela, I live in Bicol Region southern Luzon and our provinces is like a gate for all the typhoons (hurricanes). Typhoon is a common thing esp November to December. We've gotten used to having these disastrous natural phenomenon. A minimum of 10-12 typhoons a year that may strike whichever part of the country.

@@gerliejadulco6092 purpose? What is the purpose of that suffering to the dead? The "shortcomings" of the government can't just be dismissed as if this doesn't cause loss of lives and livelihoods. It is not enough to accept these "sufferings" if we know for a fact that we can do something to prevent it from happening again. The capitalists, the government, and the imperialist countries fosters a system that benefits only the rich at the cost of our environment and our lives. We must end this. What is the purpose of suffering if we do not make an effort to overcome it?

since, philippines is on a direct path of these typhoons every single year, over time you get accustomed to it and it becomes a norm and I guess people becomes complacent. In my view of things there are at least two sides of things; do nothing, do something and add the rest of the variables in there. I don't think anyone yet found a solution in decades.
