Have to say, I do love how you run shoes down to their limit. Not enough is said about the environmental impact of buying endless shoes made of synthetic materials, with brands and influencers constantly pushing people to ditch old models that are still perfectly good to run in. More should credence should be given to shoes that last.

🎉 YES Andy, my eyebrows certainly shot up when this popped up!!! Bravo Hoka!!!👏This is awesomely good news as I had basically given up on the Mach series , as versatile as they are! My Cliftons have all lasted pretty well, my old Clifton 5 about 1500km!!! Though after about 700/750km all Cliftons start to bottom out at around 25km so get relegated to shorter easy runs and treadmill, though I've got high hopes for my 9s which are still awesome!! Mmmmm Clifton 9!🥰 Makes me wanna go run in it right now!!😂

Mach 6 is my fave Hoka. It is incredibly lightweight and speedy too. Its grip and stability support is also fantastic. I just purchased another one today because its 50% off 😅 As you said it gives max comfort w/o being too bulky which I liked.
@robin2999121 күн бұрын
Yeah, similar experience as I said on your extra channel yesterday. It lost its responsiveness basically. Now it's all squish but no bounce anymore. Totally fine for me for Easy Runs but definitely not the same. Happened to me at around 500km. Tbh I would maybe have hoped for a little longer lifespan for a 160€ shoe, but huge improvement over the other Hoka RVA shoes.
@TheFODRunner21 күн бұрын
Lets hope the new foam is carried forward now so we can enjoy their other models with a longer lifespan!

I moved to this shoe recently after feeling max stack were maybe not the solution to some foot issues I suffer from. I find the Mach 6 great for anything from reasonably long zone 2 training runs up to 30km, speed/tempo sessions and anything in-between. It disappears on my foot and matched the ASICS superblast I had before in every department for me. The Mach 6 is a great shoe in my experience

Andy - love this review! I've got these just waiting to go for my Brighton marathon rotation (in black of course for winter.) been watching the channel for years, got to say been getting better and better. However, didn't you also get the Mach 4 past 300 miles? I also loved those shoes, but didn't get the 5. Anyway, our friends live on Thame, and when they visited lately (we're on Merseyside), showed them your channel and they were made up 😊. Keep it going mate, btw you're flying, I think some credence behind your and Yowana's training method of consistent long runs in and out of training blocks 👍🏽

Ah thanks so much, really appreciate that!! That’s really kind 👊 Yes I did get the 4s to around 320/330 I think? They were really dead at that point but I was impressed to get them there. It’s nice to get these over 400 and for them to still have the tiniest bit of life left….
@steve788220 күн бұрын
I retire all shoes at 400 miles as part of injury prevention, earlier if they need it. This with core training and listening to my body when to take a rest day, as most weeks I run everyday, has kept me injury free for a number of years.

This is how running shoes should be reviewed! Gold standard. But yes I have, Hoka Speedgoat 4 , with kevlar upper, had about 800 km. But thats not a road shoe.
@bev970821 күн бұрын
I recommend skipping the Speedgoat 5 if you upgrade from the 4 ... very comfy but shorter lugs which slip crazily on the steep when a bit wet (Lee Runs Ultras calls them the Slipgoat 😂) I changed to the Asics Trabuco Max and Brooks Caldera for comfort and better grip yet still very comfy on the roads getting to the trails.
@TheFODRunner21 күн бұрын
Thanks! Thats still impressive mileage even from a trail shoe, my torrent 2 barely made it to 200!
@MarkPotts7620 күн бұрын
My Speedgoat 4 have done about 400km so far, including a 105mile race in the Lake District, and still feel more or less the same as when new. Still some way to go to catch up with my Brooks Catamounts which are on 1350km (v1), 1300km (v2) and still run fine, just with a bit less bounce. I guess the DNA Flash foam is similar to the EVA in the Mach 6 and being slightly firm to start with seems to help durability.
@andrebruinhorst556515 күн бұрын
@@TheFODRunner How you managed to get only 200 miles out of it? My first pair of HOKA Torrent 2 Trail: 948,3 km/600 miles and my other pair 455 km/285 miles (still in weekly rotation). I run 70% off-road (flat woods) with them.

I was burned by several HOKAs several years ago, and while they have obviously improved since then, I choose other brands mostly for drop numbers. 5mm in a daily just isn't my thing. But I'm glad that people seem to be getting more value out of HOKA now. And they sure do seem popular with people that seem to just wear them to walk around in. /shrug Context, the last HOKA I ran in was the Mach 4 (owned 2 pairs). Great shoe, but even that had lifespan issues and NOT due to the outsole which was still serviceable. I dragged the first pair to 550km...probably 150km further than I should have, and retired the 2nd pair at 400km. And don't get me started on the Rincon V1 which was flat at 200km.
@TheFODRunner21 күн бұрын
Oh mate, the rincon 1 was incredible and a distaster at the same time... one of the best shoes i ever ran in but died around the same time as yours! Also agree on the mach 4... I loved them and they did really well but with no rubber on the bottom, it shedded like snake skin... these updates to 6 are well worth it

Amazing!! I'm a runner on a budget, and I think these long tern reviews are so important to consumers. I've got a pair of Novablast 4's. What sort of lifetime mileage could I expect to get out of them?
@PVCanciu21 күн бұрын
I got a pair of Novablast3 (TR) currently at over 1200km and still very usable. Upper is in perfect condition, except a small tear at the Achilles on the inner padding. They do feel a little softer than a new pair (non TR) that I started using. The outsole has worn down at the forefoot. It’s quite flat now, no more lugs.
@sheldonjanuary405821 күн бұрын
@PVCanciu thanks for that! That's great durability

Thnaks! The novablast have a long lifespan, I have previously done 400/500 mile updates on the 1 and 2.. .the 3 got to 300 I think? the 4 i wasnt a fan of so took them to 100 and stopped but overall, their durability is very good

The only Hoka that l’ve managed to get over 200 miles in is the original Clifton. The Clifton 1 was lighter, wider and more comfortable than any of its successors! Since then l’ve either had Hoka’s that have gone dead, uppers have ripped or worn through or the soles have worn unevenly. In comparison l have got over 700 miles in the original Nike Pegasus Turbo, 600 miles in the Adidas Prime X and 400 to 500 miles in several Nike Vaporfly Next %!

The old Hoka stinsons from 2013 used to last me 400-500 miles. Otherwise yes 250-300 hoka cliftons were done I have my hoka mach 6 to 300. My son has his to 400. Still looks great. They feel really good. I recently put a new pair on to check. New pair is stiffer and not broken in yet. But no real difference. I think pushing to 400 is easy on these shoes. One shoe has developed a squeak on take off. But perfect otherwise. Impressed. Road miles. Mid foot striker. Long run. Easy runs. Speed work. Works for everything.

I’ve been looking for a non plated shoe that I can run and walk in, and I think the mach 6 might be it. This is to replace my Puma Deviate 2 that currently clock ed 400km. I think the puma can reach 600km. It has less bounce now, but walking with a plated shoes feels unnatural.

just got my mach 6, and used them for 20k. seems like I still have a long way to go 😂. anyway, critical EVA is always more durable than regular EVA. The most durable is still TPU-based midsoles though. My Triumph 20 is still going strong after 700km. I think I'm going to retire them at 750km due to boredom. The good thing is that when I donate them, then someone else will still get to experience the comfort of that shoe. Note that I usually retire my shoes after 500-550km. Only a few I managed to take up to 600km. The triumph is the first one to touch 700.
