I think Signal lights are designed for smooth flow of traffic. So if you drive at recommended speed or speed which the traffic control has set for the road, then you will cross all signals without stopping provided there is not too much traffic. So for small road if back to back signals are optimised for say 40 kmph and you drive at same speed not over speed or underspeed then most likely you will get green signal on next signal crossing.

regarding the green signal if you keep a constant speed of 45 you will get all green signal in mumbai this is what i practise in mumbai and i am successfull , but you should get one open green signal
