For those wondering what the the technique at 3:40 is from him, that's known as "overtone" singing. The tenor-range "drone" tone is created with your vocal chords and a GIGANTIC breath in all the way to the diaphragm so you can push a lot of air out, which is why he took a huge breath before turning to the mic. Think of your lungs as the bag of a bagpipe in this instance, to keep constant pressure on the vocal chords to make them vibrate. The higher pitched "overtone" actually does not come at all from the vocal chords, but from the drone. How this is done is by curling the tongue back and creating a resonance chamber at the top of your throat that amplifies a specific range of the drone's upper pitch, and then flexing/moving the tongue wider/back and forth to change the note. It is INCREDIBLY hard to learn, much like learning how to roll an R if you grew up speaking English and were not exposed to languages like Romanian, Italian, Finnish, Swedish, etc. It's very cool when done well, as it is here :)

A lot of people don’t realize that in Mongolian throat singing, the artist is able to make two distinct notes from their vocal chords. Now that’s what I call musically talented. Mesmerizing!
@minathompson818

I don't know how he could do 2 notes, but I've heard that human vocal chords have like "two set", one of them is called false vocal chords, but it is difficult control them. Don't know if that is, but really amazing.

When Bukhu Ganburged is done singing, you see his smile and nod of satisfaction. That's a talented artist who knows he just delivered exactly what he was trying to create. And the slackjawed judges dazed in their seats, the silent, mesmerized audience is a greater accolade than you know. That's an entire roomful of people who haven't finished processing what they've experienced.

The first, piano man, just AWESOME, ripped the stage open. I feel so lucky to have been able to listen to Bukhu, hes soul touching. The 3rd, the duet, they're voices are absolutley Perfect. The 4th with the 4 singers they sound like angels. The 5th with the cool guitar was culturally bumpin, rocking out. The 6th, beat boxer DJ, sooo cool and talented at multiple things which is rare. The 7th, Luc A with the bells on his ankles, his voice could be famous, iconic, in movies, his voice takes you to another place and his vocal range is crazy. 8th Stephanie doing Ghost Walker, shes definitely good at what she does, great singing voice. 9th, the young man with sunglasses singing Story Of My Life, he sounds like hes already famous, his voice is timeless. The 10th and last of this video, the man playing the piano accordion with the shaved head and pony tail, his voice sounds very cultured honest and raw, like hes just bigger than the whole room.

@@hxmd93 If I may: feeling free to experiment doesn't mean losing one's nut. I love this guy precisely because he doesn't fear mockeries and grants himself the right to follow his feelings. Besides possessing the absolute pitch and a wonderful voice, he's able to play/sing almost any kind of music and he's a good improviser. Who else has such a wide talent? Not so many... Maybe innovation frightens you? :)
@hxmd93
@hxmd93 3 жыл бұрын
Unless you're freely experimenting losing your nut. Second guy did a genuinely awesome, traditional cultural Mongolian throat singing piece. A rare and declining art form. First guy "rapped" slowly n made uneasy faces while being off pace and tone. Something I see too common in "modern innovators". If anything just ruined a good song while being encouraged by clearly deranged judges. Anyways music, art, is all subjective you like it. Carry on, I wouldn't even want to change your mind, enjoy. I didn't, let me go my own way. I just had to watch this again 3 months later just to know what's going on, hilarious.
