Thanks for the quality review, bought on today.. the 2 light . No wonder it's called the light comes without the chef pan not pleased
@citiwolf4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for you kind comment. They didn't do the lite version when we made this review, this newer lighter version is a recent add. Our BBQ came with the chef and grid pan. To be honest we don't use the chef pan that often, only really use if for eggs. You can easily purchase the grid pan through. We do have affiliate buying links in the video description for those who wish to purchase the full Safari chef 2 LP BBQ. There is also a new lid to buy, which you can add to the wok.

thanks - the only video that shows how to stow away exactly all the stuff in the cadac-bag you better cover the pot stand in plastic, so that it could not rattle during transport between both "pans"
@citiwolf4 жыл бұрын
thank you for your comment and it was our intention to make an in depth review, our first one in fact and that is indeed a great tip to cover the pot stand in plastic :)

Firstly thank you for your review. Secondly, could I ask which Gas you found best please? Thank you
@citiwolf4 жыл бұрын
We have been using camping gas from go outdoors, they all work equally as good as far as can tell. Perhaps we can do a longevity test in the future :)

Did you use an adapter to connect tha gas regulator to to the gas bottle? Thanks
@citiwolf4 жыл бұрын
hello, we did not use adapter to connect the bbq to a gas bottle or canister. we have two other videos that you may like: 1. connecting a gas canister kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJe8fqSPhtmhb5Y and the second is connecting a gas bottle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3KXaZ5mea-te8U i hope this will help answer your question, but if not ask again and we will assist you :)

I'm looking at buying one of these, I did notice that the tail for the gas pipe will be in the way of the legs, shame, I'd have thought leaving the hose on and packing it all in the bag would make sense, maybe an angled tail is available somewhere. Cheers
@citiwolf4 жыл бұрын
We completely agree, it would if the tail piece could stay attached. We have seen pictures of campers drilling a hole in the legs of the BBQ in order to allow them to leave the tail piece on. This of course voids the warrant!
@dennisdunn6424 жыл бұрын
You didn't show how to pack away the gas hose. Does it need to be disconnected each time?
@citiwolf4 жыл бұрын
hi, thank you for your comment. If you wish to pack away the BBQ up again then yes you need to undo the nozzle from the BBQ so that r the legs can fold back in. This was a great question and we will make a short video on this :) If not done already please like and subscribe for notifications on future content coming soon :) Nice day and stay safe.

Where can I buy the gas cartridge and regulator????
@citiwolf3 жыл бұрын
HI, sorry for the late reply, we used Coleman cartridges (buying links in the video description), good value and one cartridge will last about a week or so with moderate usage. You can purchase a pack of 6 Coleman cartridges here at Amazon: amzn.to/38y5I63

Ah, I didn't know the lid of the bag had storage compartments.. I thought the LP version was for bigger Butane / Propane or LPG bottles / tanks, and the HP was for the small gas canisters?
@cool_riding7 жыл бұрын
The LP version can use all types of gas aslong as you have the correct regulator. The HP version can only use the smaller disposable canisters.
@stopmotioncentre34165 жыл бұрын
feels like you went through it a bit quickly, maybe do another slower one?

ha ha yes It was a little fast paced! In the future we''ll aim to make our videos at a pace suited to snails and tortoises to watch ;)

Pot stand is of zink plated steel, not aluminium
@69indigoblue7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the overview. Is it possible to use the pot stand inside the fat pan, so the pan works as a wind shield...?!
@citiwolf7 жыл бұрын
hello and thank you for your question. Yes you can place the pot stand inside of the fat pan but the pot stand can slide around, although this shouldn't be a problem once you have a heavy kettle on it.

Why connectors are not included. Cadac Safari Chef 2 apparently comes only as Low Pressure (LP), current price about 160.00 with free S/H. The benefit is you can use it to convert the LP to a HP system with a threaded Gas kit regulator for ~ $ 30.00 + S/H of ~ $ 24.00 from a different site (fruugo) for a total of ~ $ 210.00. By the way they are very hard to find, on the Camping world site does not exist. They have a High Pressure (HP) system, Cadac Safari 2 Lite HP ~ $ 124.00 + a ~ $ 26.00 S/H fee total ~$ 150.00. this is the system for the common canisters (HP) that we use here in the US. But will only work with the HP system. As I plan to use it for Over landing purposes need a HP, but also to use in my Camper then a LP. The Safari 2 will meet my needs for both situations, but the price then comes out to ~ $ 210.00. Correct me if I am wrong, I did some extensive search and this is what I found today. I like the product but for the price, I will continue my search. Of course there is an option to make your own connector, that should not be that hard and will look in to that. As the price of connector really does not sit that well with me.

lp regulators are not included because almost every country has their own propane/butane valve standard, so you have to source that depending on where you live or travel.

Mine keeps going out how can I clean the jet ?
@citiwolf3 жыл бұрын
hi, sorry you are experiencing this issue. We have not experienced this before. The Safari chef 2 is weak in the slightest of winds (even when not wind!) so it is recommened to set it up in a sheltered area and even setup a wind break for additional protection. If you feel the BBQ is faulty then I would contact your local dealer or Cadac directly, Other than that you could try taking the BBQ apart (may void the warranty) and try using some cleaning spray and pip cleaners. I hope this helps.

Aluminium Metal rather than Aluminium Plastic.

I do not recommend buying the safari chef as they often do not get hot enough and things can take AGES to cook; the cadac carri chef 2 is the far better option. I have owned both and ended up chucking the safari chef away
@citiwolf6 жыл бұрын
the carri chef 2 is indeed more powerful however you can cook a variety of small meals on the sarfari chef 2. we have some videos coming soon to demonstrate this :)
@colinmurphy21275 жыл бұрын
E gret Which version did you buy? The high pressure version does not get to the same heat levels,as the low pressure version.It has been documented on camping forums. The low pressure version works great.
@derJackistweg4 жыл бұрын
What kind of review is that? Reviewing a cooker but nothing has been cooked or heated. Might be interesting how log it takes for 1 liter of water or how it behaves outside- when there is supposed to be wind.
@citiwolf4 жыл бұрын
hi thank you for your feedback, we do have a few short cooking demos on our channel. We also have a kettle video where we attempted to boil water but it takes ages so we recommend boiling no more than 1/2 litre at a time. We'll make an updated water boiling video soon and the BBQ performs ok in wind but is tricky to get to light in the wind, so its best to use a wind break. More short cooking demos coming soon :)
