A coin flip is going to be more or less fair, 50/50 chance usually within 5-10%. A pot, however, is a game of having enough money to strong arm the rest of the players, and knowing when to go in. Knowing how to play the game, by going in with say, 2 grand when everyone else is in for under 500, is how you make money. But you need some to start with, and there is always the chance of getting 1%'d and losing your round. Odds are though, if you're smart you will come out on top.
