I just bought and returned my Nasci 5000 and didn't even try it because I wouldn't use it much for the type of fishing I do. The reel felt great and the price is right ($109 + tax), however I see this as being used more for whipping or when using floaters(bobbers). I mainly dunk using anywhere from a 2oz. - 3oz. lead and the combo I use is a BG 20s on a 14" rods. So I returned the Nasci and got something that better suits my needs which is the Okuma Inspira 5000 XA. It holds about the same amount of mono as the BG 20 but it has a higher retrieve ratio of 6 : 1, I'm just hoping that the spool size is similar to the BG 20 and not smaller because I won't be gaining anything if the ratio is higher but the spool is smaller.

To be honest they're almost on the same field though the Inspira is more updated with better stats, I own a Nasci 4K & 5K and Inspira 4K & 5K XA. But I feel the Inspira was a major upgrade. The 5K Inspira is in the upper $80 range so cost less as well. Of all my spinning reels 5K and under my strongest best & most used are my Blue Azores. Did you see Alan Hawk's rating chart? I'm NOT a fan of Penn due to the weight. Daiwa BG is a good choice. The Blue Azores was #3. I still have the original whites. Fought in a 5ft Ulua off a pier after +40min on the original 8K White. The new 8K Blue would've done better! I'm no longer with Okuma as my 2 terms have expired years ago. Right now Daiwa is interested in me but i'm not sure as 2 other smaller firms are interested as well for next year. Kinda like being an independent in the meantime. If Okuma wants to sign me for another term i'd gladly accept them as we seem to work well together & i believe in their products. For shoreline dunking i'd go Blue Azores. I still have my original units from Sports Authority before they went out of business. So as an independent who owns way over 100 reels w/no affiliations i'd say if you dunk our shorelines use the Blue Azores. Hands down. I own around 9 units i think? I whip with the 4K. Also jig using it. And dunk. If i used Shimano for that same application i'd go Nasci 5K. Yup. Daiwa i'd use Legalis 6K. A lot beefier & stronger than most realize. Penn the BG. The "Sleepers" rarely seen for dunking i'm slowly adding. The Daiwa Saltists Spinning Reels. They're way larger than the designations states. Holds more line. Uses BG & some MO technology but still mostly under $200 if you know where (i do). I currently own the 4500, 5000 & 8000. Everyone way more massive than expected! My BNIB 4000 arrives in a few days. My 4500 looks & feels like a 8K, my 5000 a 10K, my 8000 a 12/14K. I'm hoping my 4000 will be more like a 4500 rather than a 5000. Otherwise i'm going to have to get the 3000 Saltist next. I found a source when i'm getting them CHEAP BNIB. Also found a company that i got my exceptional reel covers for all my Daiwa Saltists from spinning to conventionals recently. They want me to be there new dealer here in Hawaii because i recognized the level of quality they're putting out. Also cheaper than the others as well. Thinking about it. www.alanhawk.com/reviews/lists.html

Aloha @ScubaChris,I have a Penn battle3 4000hs for my whipping rod? Should I put 30lbs or 40lbs braid on it,I have 30lbs Jbraid on it for plugging in the SF beaches already..Just subscribed to ur channel and enjoying ur content 🤙🏽

Sounds like you got it. I put 40lb braid on 6K/7K reels, 50lb on my 8K. Really depends on what you're targeting. On my 5K's with limited line capacity i spool on 20lb braid. If my 5K has a C-type "deep-spool" that holds more line than normal then i go 30lb. If you're targeted species is the type that likes to run i'd go lighter for lineage. That's why i go 20lb on my 5K. Go slightly heavier otherwise. I really like 20lb. I've jigged Shibi's off the FAD's using 20lb braid & i pull in 8-20lb sizes np. Largest was a little over 50lb. I try to use my best rods when i do this. If it's a "so-so" rod i go with a slightly larger reel w/heavier line. After awhile my arm & shoulder pays the price of me being "cheap". So i tend to have both types available. Hope what i do has helped you. Of course you must adapt to your available species & equipment as nothing is written in stone. Good luck.

Thank you sir for the information I have nasci 5000 xg wich braid size should i use if im targeting king fish from the shore ?

I guess that depends on the size range of the Kings. So many ways of tackling this. All braid. All mono. Braid with mono top shot might be an option to consider. You'd have yardage from braid for runs while the mono top shot will do better because of the teeth abrasion. What sizes are you encountering from the shorelines? If it was me i'd use 20lb braid as my main. My leader i'd go 30lb mono unless you like that immediate hook-set then go 40lb fluoro (plus most fluoros have excellent scratch resistant coatings). Fluoro you can set the drag & the fish will hook itself whereas mono you need to give a good yank to help that hook set. But i still prefer mono leaders myself because i do need some "give" as using braided mainline provides no give. So many options. Choose what works best for you over time. Having several rigs w/different configurations will give you a faster option. Good luck!

See the handle? Unscrew that off and screw it in on the other side. And the port cap on the other side? Screw that off and reverse it to where the handle ORIGINALLY was. Standard for all spinning reels. But on conventionals you need to purchase either L or R.

I always try to give a decent answer that i feel would help the angler. I like my 4K but haven't used this newer 5K yet. I do have 2 5K's but are the older C-series. Recently gave one of those orange boxed units away to a friend in Maui with a travel rod as he lost everything.

Hi thanks for the video. What is the difference of the 4000XGFC and the 5000XGFC? I wanted to get one for my 7" Shimano Raider 8kg spinning rod. Thanks
@ScubaChris

The 5000 & 4000 basically share the same body. The difference is in the spools. 5K spools are larger and/or deeper. So it can hold more line. Same principal between 2500 & 3000 reels.
