@professorninja2681 ehh. Not really because the stuff in the undercity doesn't really help you with your plan. In contrast, there is a Tron initiative build, utilizing both Avenging Hunter and the white Goliath initiative guy!
@janwitt5220 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the "draw a card on beeing put into GY" is extremly relevant for kuldotha burn (kuldotha rebirth the star) or if you sac it to deadly dispute (e.g. in the eggs version of tron)
@moncarloona520 Жыл бұрын
@1:30 I believe tron comes from Voltron because u gotta assemble the pieces (the urza lands) to get the deck going. Voltron is a giant robot made up of 5 smaller robots, kinda like power rangers and the megazords.

I'm doing well with a similar list, getting one first place, two second places, and one third place out of four weekly Pauper tournaments. Mine has 4 Self Assemblers in the main instead of the Fangren Marauders to maximize Ancient Stirrings' ability. I have 3 Crop Rotations which helps enormously with assembling Tron. I also use Energy Refractors instead of Chromatic Spheres since I don't have Marauders anyway, and it removes any worries about colored mana. Instead of Crystal Grottos, I have 2 Khalni Gardens in the main for the chump blocks and against Edict effects, and one Bojuka Bog main which I can Crop Rotation for in a pinch. With my build, I have a very good matchup against Grixis Affinity, Dimir Terror and Izzet Faeries, basically against any control or midrange list. Burn is a pain, but oddly enough, I haven't lost to it because after losing game 1, I always won the next two games after sideboarding in Weather the Storm. Combo is the worst matchup, specially Walls, which I don't have a way to interact with. Moggwarts and Altar Tron are doable, I just need to make sure to save a Faerie Macabre in hand for when they try to combo off.
@paperpauperplayer Жыл бұрын
Wow! Thanks for the feedback on the back! I do really like the Assembly Workers, and you're right - that plus Energy Refractor instead of Sphere makes Crop Rotation much better. My perception of Crop Rotation though, and thus is because others asked as well, is that the Tron Assembly package I have here is identical to the Moderns version, which has been successful for over 5 years now. With that being said, of course we don't have Sylvan Scrying. With mainboard Fangrens, I just really didn't feel comfortable sacrificing my Forests. Plus, once you assemble Tron, Crop Rotation becomes a dead card in hand. Abundant Harvest is soooo nice when you complete tron and have that extra green mana. It allows you to find so much stuff. So idk. But I definitely could see myself swapping out Fangren for Assembly. I just like having the unnecessary life gain lol. It's made matchups like Boros Synth and Burn soooo easy to sneak wins from. I also personally am not a fan of the Bojuka Bog. Turn 1 Relic game 1 is insanely satisfying because the opponent will never have an answer for it, and you lock them out of their graveyard for the entire game. Yeah, Walls is a REALLY good deck. I love that deck. But it is extremely hard to interact with

@paperpauperplayer Жыл бұрын
Personally for me, I have a soft spot for Mono Green Tron due to my history with Modern. I love casting giant creatures for cheap that makes me opponent go 🤬. Now from a meta standpoint, Flicker Tron is significantly more versatile and has tones of "try not to die until I can lock the opponent out" interaction. So it's really a play preference for you. Sure, Mono Green Tron is more susceptible to "okay. I kill it with cast down", but for me, I enjoy flooding the board with giant threats. So it's whatever you prefer 😁
@aybeesea Жыл бұрын
What sideboard cards are good vs the deck? Specifically for BW ephemerate? I've got 3 extra chainers edict and 3-4 Revoke existence. Seems enough? Which deck would you consider favorable in this matchup?
@paperpauperplayer Жыл бұрын
Killing thus decks big pay off creatures can be worth it. Once they have Tron though, those big guys just keep on coming. I think your most important targets are Ulamogs Crusher, and Wretched Gryff. Colossus is a big body, but he's just a big body. Wretched Gryff has flying which can snag the Initiative from you, and Ulamogs Crusher with Annihilator 2 is busted. Chainers Edict is good, but I think direct removal is probably preferred over Chainers Edict. I think Unexpected Fangs is pretty good. It allows you to keep your life up if you put it on Pegasus or Vampiric Sovereign. It also allows your Vampiric to block Wretched Gryff easier. I also think Duress could be a great card, because if the Tron player keeps 1 land, and expedition map, and a bunch of big guys, that Duress will CRIPPLE them! I am not sure what the favorable match up is. I'd say Orzhov because of how insane Initiative is, but definitely something we'll put to the test during the new Paper Pauper Playing!

So prototype creatures are colorless artifacts even with their prototype cost? Wasn’t sure if commander “color identity” rules applied there
@paperpauperplayer Жыл бұрын
Yes! So, with Prototype, the creature only becomes that color once it's casted for the prototype mana cost. You're right about commander; Boulderbranch Golem would be considered a green card. But in regular Magic, it's by default colorless since the prototype cost is an alternate cost.

It's a great card, but I've been playing mono green tron in modern for a long time and Crop Rotation isn't legal there, and you get tron perfectly fine.
