Harley Benton unboxing/first impression stuff's not the easiest thing to find, thanks you! And the video was a really enjoyable, casual watch, too

I really enjoyed this. Without sounding horrible it was nice that it was not some polished, high production, over rehashed and edited review. It made it believable. I'm in the market for my 1st fretless to test the water and this looks promising. Nice job thanks.

Thanks for doing this! I just ordered the 6-string version partially based on your review (and my previous good experience with a Harley Benton Tele).

Why not roundwounds on a fretless?? I wouldn't have it any other way.I hate the dull sound of flats, and if played properly, rounds don't damage a fingerboard.

👍✨I had roundwounds on my fretless bass for years. I had a 5 string Warwick fretless and I liked the versatility and the growl I got on the low notes. It had a beautiful ebony fingerboard so even after many years of being well played in using just roundwounds, there was barely a mark on the fingerboard. Sure you could see a little bit. But it was great because I liked the fact they sound much brighter and the fact I could really dig into them with my right hand fingers when playing straight 8’s really tight with a rock drum beat under the band or I could then play more melodic bass lines and it cut through beautifully and really sang on the high notes . I wasn’t using an amplifier but just a straight DI. I was part of my church worship team Sometimes I used a Boss Bass chorus pedal. I did own a Marcus Miller fretless for a short while it came with flatwound strings and normally I hate flatwound strings but after messing around a bit I fell in love with them. They worked well on a couple of songs I had written and actually encouraged me to try different things and so I’m hoping to get my hands on a Ibanez SRF700 portamento fretless. However I’m pretty hard up so hence the reason I’m here checking this bass out. Hmmmm I think I will wait till I can afford the Ibanez. I think the Harley fretless sounds like a good beginners Fretless bass. But it’s not the bass I am after. The neck looks a bit too chunky and cheap. It’s really a very personal thing. Same with roundwounds and flatwound strings on a fretless. I have to admit it’s a little strange to unbox a brand new fretless bass with roundwounds. Because a seller would want to protect the fingerboard because they will mark it, especially if you charge your mind and send it back during the cool off period. So perhaps that’s what he meant. But I think if I finally get my hands on the Ibanez I will use flatwound strings. Again there’s no right or wrong way it’s very much a personal thing and depends what sound you are looking for and what works well with your bass guitar 🎸

Nice unboxing. This one "Harley Benton HBZ-2005FL NT Deluxe Series" looks like real deal, 300 EUR for an axe like this! Wow.

I just saw this guitar last night, it’s literally the Squier for half the price! Probably ordering soon, as well as a few others. Edit I commented early, I was referring to the Jbass fretless that’s $173, I can’t believe an active 5 string is $160, that’s insanity!

Hey dude! What is your chain? The tone you got is really nice! ans second, The reason for round wounds on fretless basses is the brightens and familiarity for most players on the market. Cost is also an issue. Flat wounds are way to expensive for what they are. and considering the price of this bass. Flats don't make any sense.

I dunno why they sell them with rounds...ibanez do it also with their SR370 bass. i have the frettet b550 from thomann its nice but its also a little sucker battery wise, i have to put new batteries in it every 3 to 4 weeks. Nice Video by the way, keep on!

I had the six string fretless version and found that switching to passive when not playing saved a considerable amount of battery power.

@@hairlessheathen The "mwah" sound seems to be easier with roundwounds IMO. Refinishing the fingerboard if rounds eat it up can be a huge PITA I guess, though.
