I've still got my Berghaus, still in use 40 years later,few modifications. That cup is Swiss,and comes with a squareish water bottle that has a respirator water fitting on top.

I this got my Berghaus Crusader2 bergen 40 years on too... its not mint though but still fully usable, and unlike the later issued DPM webbing, the DPM pattern is as good as new.

Yep that is the M84 Swiss army cup. I have the canteen and cup, made by SIGG. Not my go to as the cup is aluminium - my go to is the Dutch canteen and cup, bombproof - but good as part of a lightweight kit.

@simonh6371 Used to prefer it as it was narrower than anything else and fitted better on belt, could carry 2 for width of 58 pattern bottle and mug. Non 58 pouch though. They're on the back of Berghaus now.

Arktis pouches are their Ammo pouches, left and right, and the knife sheath is designed for the MOD survival knife. Both circa 1998 - 2002

Interesting items … brings back lots of memories. Just purchased a 58 pat nylon poncho and amazed at how much these are going for these days!

I had one on loan from my employer back in the late 80s and early 90s. I've got an aversion to anything that employer provided back then so I use a Dutch Army poncho nowadays.

I seem to remember my dad making a bandoleer almost exactly the same size out of some gash bit of kit he had kicking about, I can remember playing with it when I was a kid. He had SLR magazines and a smoke grenade in them.

Fun fact those insoles were originally a US thing.. issued with the US jungle boots.. they are designed to pump the water out of your boots as you walk...

I thought they looked familiar.

The little alu cup is a Swiss army M84 canteen cup, issued with a fairly good quality canteen which holds just under a litre. The canteen cup is made by SIG, of SIG-SAUER fame.

Great video Well done. The two water bottle pouches at 12.40 particularly interest me. One is indeed a standard 58 pattern. The other one appears to be adapted with a 44 pattern popper attached to the top of a standard 58 pattern pouch possibly with the intention of making it easier to open and close
@Mick02812 күн бұрын
Jeremy; the popper version is (I believe) the first issue of the 58 Patt water bottle cover, I obtained that one in about 1968 and it was well used then!

Just a quick question I served in the 80/90s sizing was for example 180/104 was easy to understand but the KF Shirts you received were size No 2 or 3. Do you have a KZbin you have done to explain this sizing method.

What is a fiber button stick? 13:30
@jameslawson387613 күн бұрын
I *think* you use the large circular hole to go over a brass button, then slide the stick down behind the button (along the narrow channel) so it acts as a protective backing for your uniform whilst you polish the button.

@@jameslawson3876 awesome info. That makes perfect sense. Much appreciated.

Lol…yes but the employer had a few things that just worked and nothing wrong with old school. Kit today seems Gucci but sitting under a poncho on a rainy day or night is always better than being drenched.

The blue shoes. What was the purpose of those shoes? For Physical Training or for a secondary pair of footwear while in garrison/field drying boots?
@flatmoon635913 күн бұрын
@@jastrapper190 They were meant for inside PT, only ever used during basic training. Had to be polished black or white Blanco depending. Absolutely rubbish. Mine were given back on demob ,with no other use. One of the many useless issue bits, waste of money really, long list of rubbish issued.

Very cool! How do you guys understand the pant sizing? Or from left to right on the tag, what measurements are being represented?
@baronedipiemonte399013 күн бұрын
I don't remember the order, but the 3 measurements are metric/NATO sizes for WAIST, LENGTH(or overall HEIGHT - I'm American & unsure), and HIPS/ARSE I have several British & French shirts/jackets, and those are sized, for example 190/130 (190 cm overall height/130 cm chest circumference) which would equal XXL Regular in U.S. military sizing. Euro sizing is "tighter" fitting than U.S.
@MichiganSilverBack13 күн бұрын
@baronedipiemonte3990 thx. I got the top sizes ok,i was sure about pants, as waist and lengths usually run close. Appreciate it!
