Hi Helen, is it a No 2 Rosemary & Co spotter brush you are using on the swatches here ? You mention Opera Rose in the mix at 9:04. There is no Opera Rose in the set or the extras you bought? Were did Opera Rose come from ?? I have treated myself to this set. I love the idea that she is Cad, Mercury, Lead free. I have tried to remove all Toxins from all my choices, which i think all brands should follow this route.
@raecampbellsstudio2 жыл бұрын
Me too. Yes it’s a number 2 spotter I think. Did you know that Jackson’s sell A Gallo now?
@sandjune27532 жыл бұрын
Yes I bought mine from them. Can you answer the opera rose question please Helen that was so confusing?
@raecampbellsstudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi. They have a colour called opera rose I think I mentioned in the video that it’s more similar to Quinacridone magenta. Set I use this from the signature 12 but of course they may have changed it since. I’ve just checked my tin and it’s definitely called opera Rose PR122. But it isn’t like your traditional opera rose of other brands, as I said I consider it to be more like quinacridone magenta and I have mentioned this to the company. I am unable to post a screenshot of it here but if you’re on a Facebook group I can show you on that. I hope this clarifies
@raecampbellsstudio2 жыл бұрын
I have just had a look on their website and name has now been changed. When I made the video it was called opera Rose, I mentioned it to a Gallo. The colour reference is PR122 They have changed the colour as I’ve mentioned and it is now called Quinacridone magenta, PR122. This is exactly the same as the opera rose that I used in the video, but as I said it’s now a different name. Here’s the link www.agallocolors.com/shop/signature-12

👏👏👏 BEAUTFUL video, Helen!!! I LOVED it!! So satisfying to watch while I had breakfast this morning! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ And I am VERY glad that BEES play such an important role in the manufacture of those watercolours (and many others) - just an added bonus!! Apart from pollinating our food crops, they also help to spread joy when their honey is used in making these watercolours, so that artists like YOU can make BEAUTIFUL ART! It's always such a joy to watch your videos, Helen ❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗 Also, I'm just curious, have you tried blending that Fig Green with the Hokkaido Orange.. does it make yellow? If you do try it one day, I would love to know what happens there!! I've seen some artists on the internet showing how to make a primary colour from two secondary colours, and I was curious if this would actually work with watercolours? Thank-you for this video, Helen 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏

Hello Dr Bee - thank you for your lovely comments - honestly it was such a pleasure to work with these watercolours - A Gallo are an amazing company - they are part of the plant a tree scheme - the colours are simply gorgeous - they sell out within hours of restocking - so they are a rare treat for me - and just for you, I have tried mixing the two colours - the orange and green - they made a very interesting 'mustard' colour - a cross between a very light olive green and indian yellow. In a few weeks I have a video where I use these paints to paint a geranium flower (oh I also mention on video for the first time - that I am self taught. I know that you have taken the trouble to watch my older channel trailer where I talk about it there but I am not sure many people know) - once again thank you for your comments xxxxx

@@raecampbellsstudio Oh Helen, thank-YOU, my lovely internet friend! ❤️❤️❤️ I hope more people watch your channel trailer! I always want to know more about artists and their journey towards art, I find it so interesting! I think everyone's art journey is different and special in its own way, whether self-taught or not! Thank-you for doing a mix and so I'm happy to hear about that! When it comes to mixing colours, the possibilities are endless, and therein lies the intrigue! I'm super excited for you to have this wonderful opportunity to work with A Gallo - they really are an amazing company, and it's a testament to your hard work to be chosen for the role 👏👏👏 Well done Helen!!! Hi Wendy. Some manufacturers have now started to state that they are cruelty free so I was unable to comment on all the others but it specifically said that within the write-up which is why I mentioned it

Hi Rae. I’m on your Patreon but wanted to ask you which A Gallo set would be a good one to try for botanicals. Being in Canada, the exchange and delivery is pricey. I was thinking of the Vendemmia. Would that be suitable? I know it won’t be available for a couple of weeks. Thanks Rae!
@raecampbellsstudio2 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy. The set that you mentioned look absolutely stunning. I have a few of those colours myself and adore them as a brand. They are pricey but the issue I have with using them is because they’re quite scarce and on the pricey side not many people have them in their kit and I tend to get a bit of flack for that to be honest. That being said, I still occasionally use them for my Patreon videos although once again I’m reluctant for that reason. The colours are 2nd to none but if you can’t wait that long another brand I highly recommend is Schmincke. If you email me or message me via Patreon, and let me know the colours you have I can suggest a few for you if you like?

Where can A. Gallo watercolors be obtained in the US?😊 the granulating colors make wonderful backgrounds that can blur out and be pushed back. I use quin coral for making my own Moon glow. I generally keep my transparent and usual colors on my main Steven Quiller palette but my granulation recipes are in a wc sketchbook and I just keep the tubes handy with a little porcelain mixing dish. I really am interested in a couple of colors. One thing also for transparent colors , a warm basic red is difficult to find so mixing quinacridone colors works with a warm perylene maroon. Anyways if anyone knows where these paints could be obtained I the states please let me know.Thank you!😊
