Unboxing and testing US Robotics Courier 56K modem and Linksys VoIP adapter SPA2102

As I try to rely more and more on myself to handle my online life, it became crucial that I can remote access my environment even in case I destroy my router configuration or something happens and I find myself cut off the Internet.
So I decided to order a US Robotics Courier for my analogue line and test it with a Cisco SPA2102. Today I am quickly testing it with my Compaq Aero 4000 Windows CE laptop, that contains both a serial port and a built-in hardware modem.

I have 3x linksys ata’s and 2 unlocked. Can you please make more vids about the connection with the serial modem and ata etc..

I'll be documenting the journey as a go. For now, the setup works and I can console in. I didn't manage to get fax through, but it's probably my problem with mgetty. My next step now is to get my analog landline reenabled.
