Unboxing Anduril, Flame of the West - United Cutlery LE - Museum Edition Sword

I waited nearly two years for this museum edition Lord of the Rings sword to be delivered from United Cutlery on pre-order and I’m so happy it’s here.
Anduril, Flame of the West, the sword of the King of Gondor, Aragorn. This officially licensed replica is a brand new Museum edition version which exactly matches the one from the Return of the King film. It comes with a display plaque, banner and certificate of authenticity.

The sword is dazzlingly beautiful. The next batch of Andurils will be delivered to me, Can I ask you a few questions? I'm going to wipe off the shipping oil on the sword with a cloth and then polish it once more with UC's metal glo. Next, I'm going to coat it with Renaissance wax. Is this correct? Also, is there shipping oil on the handle? Does this also require separate management?

The handle seemed fine. Maybe a little residue. Based on what I’ve read, those sound like some good steps to take and I like both of those products also

Make sure to get some Metal Glo some other sword polish to clean up all the tarnish from the shipping oil! You’ll also need to polish and maintain all the meta on the handle and pommel, as I believe that is highly polished Zinq that will oxidize too. Also, unfortunately UC did not make this version Limited Edition, and instead each sword is just serialized. It really is the best version of the sword a collector can get that isn’t a 20-40 thousand handcrafted version by Weta!

I thought I had read the initial release was 600 but I could be wrong. I will definitely take those other tips you suggested as well!

@@theurgeartifacts I believe the first batch was 600, with 2 more batches on the way. I guess one can consider it “limited” in the sense that they’ll eventually stop making them, but since it’s not labeled “out of 1000” or whatever, they can technically make as many as people are willing to buy. Such a beautiful sword, and I couldn’t be happier with my own!

I'm wondering if you bought the Anduril scabbard from UC as well, and if it fits the Museum Collection version? Does it stay on without falling if the sword is pointed down?

Well the description of the scabbard does not mention this new version as a sword it will fit. I believe this sword is a different length than previous versions. Can always check with the vendor but I’m leaning it would not based on what I’m reading on the website.

Curious how this sword differs from the original UC Limited Edition sword

Aside from the mounting plaque stuff, here is the quote from the description that says the differences: “The surface polish is finer, the engraved blade runes are more accurately rendered and detailed, and the fuller grooves are the exact length of the movie version’s.” I don’t have the original but I know there are some other videos comparing the two.

​​@@theurgeartifactsnah. The first PO, as continues with all UC products, are orders of 600 units. The marketing director already established that they are serialized but not a limited edition. As did Kit Rae who designed the sword. He also clarified it still has a welded on tang... Which kinda defeats the point of them telling people it's a functional 1060 high carbon steel blade. That's like, the full semi-auto of the sword world lol.
