well. I brought Dell S2218H monitor. I connected it throw vga cable with my cpu. I don't understand why I'm not able to enable the built in speakers. is it for HDMI? is there any other way??? I cannot connect with HDMI as my cpu has only vga and DVI port. I'm totally confused

VGA only supports video not audio. You should connect the monitor to your PC with a aux cable

+Arnab Neogi just install the drivers. And then reboot your system. After that just right click on the desktop and go to resolution then change the resolution to 1920*1080

as in, if we change the resolution of the monitor , the display might get cut in the sides or edges right ? In the same way , even though my resolution is full i.e., 1920 x 1080, I am not able to see the display on the whole screen, there is no display on the 4 sides up to 1-2 cms. i can send u a picture of my monitor if u can just post your email id. +anupam kalita yes you can connect the VGA to your PC and the HDMI to your cable box. As this has built in speakers, you can use it as a TV. But trust me, the speakers are not so good. They are average.

+anupam kalita it's okay, I use my monitor for at least 15 hours a day, no problem with eyes. I would suggest you to buy a HDMI switcher so that with just a flick of a switch, you can change the HDMI input. Its okay, to use it as a TV.

+anupam kalita basically, a HDMI switcher is a small device which changes the HDMI inputs. Just keep all the HDMI cables connected to the device and just with a push of a button, you can switch between the HDMI connection.
