I believe the kapton is to help protect the plastic and connector contacts during the soldering process. Good video pal.

Superb video thank you, I've just ordered a box of these to try, having only used the larger boards, great to see someone that knows how to light and focus a video, I'm also a fan of getting up real close in my videos as well, so many on people on instructional videos don't present stuff near enough to the camera, thanks again, subbed.

Hi Dominic, This is an arduino 'clone' or OEM board, as Arduino is open source anyone can develop and sell a device to the same spec and sell it. In terms of processing power theoretically it is the same as a genuine Arduino, where the difference tends to lie is in the quality of components used, I would expect a genuine Arduino device to outlast an OEM in terms of lifespan but the performace will be roughly the same.
