One good looking Dove , One unique one at that. I have been following the Epi Dove hoping they will do a Masterbilt Dove so I have not paid a lot of attention to the cheaper ones but I never seen the with the Hummingbird pick guard. Looking forward to the comparison video !

I've a Epiphone Dove from 2012, natural and red finish, it is made in Indonesia. Where is made this beautiful version ?

This version is also made in Indonesia. Likely alongside the Hummingbird, since this one has a Hummingbird pickguard accidentally installed on it.

Did you buy it as a used or blemished model? I’m wondering if it was a returned guitar and the original purchaser swapped out the pick guard to the hummingbird style. I bought this same ebony dove a year or so ago and thought it sounded very constricted. Heavy woods and thick poly finish killed the tone for me. I sure wish they’d make a legitimate dove in the inspired by Gibson line that has solid maple back and sides.

This one was bought new from Sweetwater. One of the best things about Sweetwater is that you can see pictures of what you are buying before you actually buy it. And that's what happened here. I was clicking on random guitars online and this one popped up as being unique. I had my sales engineer run down and make sure it actually had a Hummingbird pickguard, and then bought it when he confirmed it. They had the case in stock and shipped it right away. That said, I found the problem with the Fishman pickup in this guitar. I'll be uploading that video soon.

Would love to have that case for my 65 Texan. Sorry the electronics weren't working for you. Great video though.

This one was purchased from Sweetwater to go with the guitar. This is the second one of these cases I've gotten and both of them have been flawless. Here's the link: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EDREAD--epiphone-edread-dreadnought-guitar-case

If it's actually a Dove (Spruce and Maple) and not a Hummingbird (Spruce and Mahogany) and you wanted a Dove, if it were me I would just keep it. Cool limited finish. The guitar is what it is, it has the Dove bridge, you got the (arguably) equally ornate Hummingbird pickguard as a mistake, personally I'd just keep it and play it. Unless you really wanted the Dove pickguard. As long as it's a factory mistake. I wouldn't want something some dummy did because he prefered the Hummingbird guard.

This one was purchased from Sweetwater with the Hummingbird pickguard on it. Even the sales engineers at Sweetwater didn't notice it in the pictures until I pointed it out to them. It was definitely installed by mistake at the factory, and I think that's the coolest thing about this guitar. This guitar has become one of those guitars that you don't mind playing in bad weather or when it's extremely hot/cold outside. And the mismatched pickguard makes for a fun story to tell those who notice the fact that the truss rod cover and pickguard don't match.

A great looking and sounding guitar. I hate Sweetwater! Not because they are a bad guitar company, but because they make it so easy to buy another guitar! 😁

They really do make it too easy to get the gear you want. I think I've put my sales engineer's kids through college at this point. lol

I bet it’s the battery too. Great review though.I also bought a j-45 slash epiphone and a ibg hummingbird & did a little review on KZbin at you & me and a cheap guitar Jeff Johnson if you want to check it out

The pickup problem was definitely the battery. I've got a video coming out tomorrow that addresses the battery problem and the strings.

Yeah I thought so .Still got to change the strings on my j-45 slash model you know I bought this cause of your review. Thanks dude It does sound better.

I have a an Epiphone Dove Suburst . Looks Heaps better than your guitar . Sounds like it does have a battery inside , because when you put cable in jack , it was very noisy , like you did not know what you were doing . I paid $1000 ( Australian ) . Stickry says made in China . Did you measure Scale Length .Hummingbird is 24.75 inches . Dove is 25.5 inches .

I mean to say Sticker .
@guitarsandgears394812 күн бұрын
It's a 25.5" scale length. And, when I hold it up to my 2022 Dove, it's an exact match for length. I'm about 99% sure that they just grabbed the wrong pickguard out of the parts bin when they built this one.

Better late than never comment. Sorry pal but no cigar. It sounds like a 400 dollar guitar to me. The strings, frets and the woods are what they are for that price level. I have never personally owned any imported copys of big USA brands...but I am fortunate to own some real ones. My review...coming from nothing *wow /coming from Gibson owner*not

I agree with you. And I"ve got a few Gibson Doves, so I'm very much biased towards the Gibson version. For that matter, I'm a fan of the Gibson version of EVERY Epiphone acoustic that I've played. But this one isn't terrible. It's obviously laminate back and sides. It's never going to project like the Gibson version does. But it's pretty comfortable to play on and the top is pretty nice. The most desirable feature of this one (and that's a very subjective point of view) is that this one has the Hummingbird pick guard on it instead of a Dove one. I've decided to keep this one around as a fun guitar for the kiddos and their friends to play on.
