Update: I am not entirely happy with my starter pack. The guitar strings that came with the guitar are garbage, so I bought a slightly thicker set of strings that are much better. Also, the guitar cord that plugs into the amp needed to be replaced and the guy at the shop where I bought it told me that the one that comes with the kit is "garbage".

I have a fender squire also mine is left handed all my nine guitars all made left handed there great very well made I been playing and singing over 48 years.if the your guitar is buzzing to much take the tool and adjust that truss rodd loosen it up not tighten it will sound better go deal slow don't adjust to fast real slow

Truss rod is located on the guitar head stock up there were the strings loosen the to middle strings before you adjust it g string and the d string

I been playing acoustic guitar for some time now and I’m ready to get my first electric. But I’m not going with the squier starter pack. Instead I’m getting the Harley Benton Fusion T with dual humbuckers, fixed bridge, either a Joyo or Hughes and Mittner head amp and for the speaker I’ll get a 10” Celestion guitar speaker and install it in a cabinet I already have.

As for me I’m not getting a squier starter pack. What I’m getting is a Harley Benton fusion T, a Joyo head amp, and headphones. As for the cabinet I’ll buy a 10” celestion guitar speaker and install it in a speaker cabinet I have already.

Life might be too short and, at least, I'll know how to make it sound like The Rolling Stones 😉 Although it is not the best time for me... I think this one will also make me a very happy man. Needing that! I was surprised to see you jumping right at a D chord and also able to identify it as out of tune 😄 I don't know that much 😂 Interesting you mentioned the change of strings. I already heard about that. Do you think it was fundamental? One thing I heard about beginner's guitars is that their finishes aren't the best 😶 An importantly mentioned detail was neck and frets' rough edges 🫣 Did you noticed something? If Id change the strings I'll also ask them to sandpaper it all... I hope it is not needed. Best wishes!

This was my first guitar years ago, and there was nothing wrong with the fretboard at all, it was smooth to play, hand went smoothly up and down. No rough edges at all. Also it’s on of the best guitars for the price. Glad I choose that guitar, really surprising that no work was needed when I got it lol.

@@michaelmonster thank you for your reassuring testimony 🙂 I was imagining that from some details I could spot on its pictures. It is said that the players usually even choose to keep this model as they evolve 👌 I was advised not to change its new strings after all and, from what I saw, it seems pretty straightforward to tune. It will be almost plug-and-play 😁 Pity I'll have to learn it first 😄 It will be fun. After being a long-time fan of David Gilmour... how weird it was to have been inspired just now to buy it after watching Tim Henson's Blood Moon... 🤦

I changed the strings because the original ones were very “soft” ie., bended too easily. I went for medium gauge and they feel better, for me anyway.

​@@turningofthetide1000thanks for the feedback. So being an absolute beginner was probably why they advised me to keep the soft ones until they all wore out. One was a bit rusty. I hope I don't get tetanus from that 😂 But firstly I still need to play more 😕 much much more

How are you getting on with the guitar ?

The guitar is fine, no issues. I was getting lots of interference through the amp, so I took the amp in to the place I got it and they said the cable that comes with these guitar kits (the one that connects to the wall socket) is substandard so they gave me a new, apparently better one. But still to lots of buzzing, so I went back and was told the buzzing can be caused by interference from all the electronic devices in the same room and by the type of electric current one's home is wired for. I moved it into the bedroom alway from electronics and the buzz was much lower.

​@@turningofthetide1000that's all fenders hum or buzz is called 60 cycle hum... if you put aluminum shielding in the inside of the pick guard it'll reduce the hum... it's a con of single coil fenders but you won't hear it while playing

@@turningofthetide1000 no it won't matter what amp you use you'll hear 60 cycle hum using a stratocaster... they're just noisy guitars cause of how single coils are designed... they hum ... what I'm saying is take your guitar to a guitar tech and tell them to put aluminum shielding under the pickguard of the guitar... that'll quiet down the hum... but that's only if it bothers you... like I said you don't hear it when you're playing

Speak to them again. Make a list of the reasons why you want it. Do some research about the guitar and they might be impressed by your seriousness. And buy it for you! Good luck.

Whoever told you that a Strat is more versatile than a Les Paul told you the exact opposite of reality. Also, for a beginner, a Les Paul is easier to play since it has a shorter scale length.

They're both very versatile and a les paul is definitely not easier to play lol.. it's heavier reaching the lower frets is more difficult

@@aaronbrown0417 Yes, it is much heavier. I tried them both out in store and the Les Paul was too heavy for me. If you are twenty-something then maybe this is not a concern.
