my old (~2005) specialized comp mountain bike shoes lasted well over 50k kilometres, i don't know exactly how many. they did weigh a ton though. specialized went with tall internal volume for their men's shoes shortly after, my ~2010 pair of specialized comp had to be modified by the cobbler to fit the same way as the old one has. (a layer of leather under the tongue of the shoe to pad out the difference in volume) very comfortable shoes. nothing lasts as long as these in my experience, although i went back to platform pedals with bmx straps for the most part, pretty happy with those. less efficient; i don't mind slight inefficiencies any more. bespoke sewing patterns procedural generated from 3d scanned feet can't be that far into the future. we should all move to the mondopoint measurement as it's the only one that makes sense (both length and width of the foot specified in millimetres)

sorry if that's slightly off-topic

well they are not "bmx straps" more like fixed gear pedal straps

I just bought the CX238's (standard width) and I've got Sidi's, Fizik R1's, Giro Empires and the Lakes are BY FAR the most comfortable, quality, fitment, the fabric used in their heel cup is amazing, everything is beyond my expectation. The leather is super soft, they feel VERY high end (make my R1's feel like plastic cheap low end shoes!!). I used their fitment guide to order the correct size and even though they said a US 12 (45.5) was my size (I typically have 11, 11.5 in all other shoes) and was nervous buying that size they actually fit PERFECT, even the width being their "standard/regular" width is WAY wider than ANY of my other shoes and just makes such a difference, it makes all my others seem super narrow although im 100mm width foot. The sole insert is still pretty junky but I always use Specialized body geometry insoles anyway so no biggie there. I'm 100% sold on Lake shoes and will only buy them going forward. They're awesome!!

Wonderful news! I find Sidi’s completely overrated the others I haven’t ridden in a long time so no opinion

Your haircut is great! Maybe do a video on your new power gains from being more aero (and grams lighter!)…this is coming from a guy (me) who’s big bushy hair was confused for a fur hat!

Hello George! Thank you for this video. Curious, where did you get those black ones with those Boa's? All I see being sold is with the dual IP1 BOA. Thank you!

I buy directly from Lake Cycling. Whatever they have in stock is what I receive.

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad Thank you very much George for the response. Interesting, when I looked on their website I guess they’re having old pictures of a black shoe with the other Boa.

@@jeffepstein228 I noticed different BOA’s on the same shoes the last time I order 3 pairs

Are you wearing a sports watch? Maybe you could touch on sports watches and your ideas about them. I just got the Garmin EPIX PRO Sapphire and I really don't know much about it yet as it relates to cycling and my fitness but I would imagine it's going to give me more information than I care about. But maybe I should care about. I couldn't find much when it came to people using other than mostly for running or Tri Sports.

Hello Charles - actually it’s an older Apple Watch. With my old eyes I don’t think I could read the screen of a sport watch 😂
