Unboxing: Musashi Kumamoto Katana by Yari no Hanzo

In this unboxing video I open my order from KATANAMART.DE
The delivery arrived after 12 days.
(KATANA/FREE TANTO/FREE STAND)
After 9 years I decide to buy a new katana for Kenjutsu, Iaido and Tameshigiri.
Musashi Kumamoto Katana by Yari no Hanzo.
The katana, which is inspired by the katana attributed to Miyamoto Musashi and exhibited in the Kumamoto Museum, but which was unfortunately destroyed in a fire.

now that is a very very pronounced curve. since it’s a production model, this likely won’t apply but that steeper curve near the tip was actually considered unattractive in ancient japan. This is because during the tempering process, the blade curves on its own and when the tip is that pronounced, it demonstrates that the smith wasn’t very experienced(especially in the sunobe stage of forging). apologies for the random tidbit

That's very interesting! In my opinion it's a little bit to curved too, for my sin of astetic. But the handling is Awsome and how it goes during the tatami 😌

Nice fittings on both swords but that hamon on the wakisashi or tanto(shorter blade) isn't real, it's etched on.

Yes, you are right. I got two Tanto and both are without a real Hamon. For me it's OK. I don't need a Tanto in anyway 😅
