Calina of StoryRetold ordered Nancy Drew books online from Powell’s City of books from Portland, Oregon without knowing the quality or look of each book. Two week’s later, she forgets what she ordered and is surprised by her own purchase! What Nancy Drew books did she get?

I have a pretty big collection of Nancy Drew books, I really like collecting the 90s paperbacks as they’re hard to find where I live and it adds an extra challenge finding them!

Awesome! Yeah, those paperbacks are hard to find since there are so many. It can get confusing when the cover designs change for different print editions, too. :)

I would love to get more books, but I have no more room for physical books. I just buy ebooks until I can weed out what I want to keep. Several Nancy Drew ebooks I still need to read through.

I've been reading the Nancy Drew books sense 1992 when I got a set of the glossy yellow hard covers for Christmas and I've been collecting them ever sense I have Secret in the Old lace but mine is a first edition I have so many of them the original mystery series, the case files, the girl detective series, the super mysteries, the Diary series and last but not least the prequel book to the CW'S Nancy Drew TV show which I am reading currently

@@StoryRetold the only thing I can tell you is that Nancy's home town has changed she no longer loves in River Heights Illinois she now lives in Horseshoe Bay Maine and she's a high school student in the book

@@StoryRetold I loved it I also love the TV show the book is related to it's on every Wednesday night at nine there's only two seasons so far but they did get renewed for a 3rd as well a good amount of my Nancy Drew books come from thrift stores

Hey Calina! Great video. I really liked the Nancy Drew scrapbook that you bought. It looks really cool. Anyway, since you like collecting Nancy Drew books, I have a recommendation for you. There is a book called, "Girl Sleuth Nancy Drew and the Women Who Created Her" by Melanie Rehak. It's all about the history of Nancy Drew and how she was created.

Gabrielle Fortier yes! We have it at the HeR Interactive office. I don’t own that one, but I remember reading it from the library 📚 a looong time ago. It’s on my “to own” list!

This was so fun to watch, I’d definitely love to read all of those books! I’m currently reading the Secret of the Nile, which I am definitely loving-I didn’t think I was a Nancy and Frank fan before, but now the idea is starting to grow on me haha 😆 and next I’m going to read Treasure in the Royal Tower, so I’m excited to see what the differences are between the book and the game!

Love this video!!! One note though, there are no Nancy Drew series called Mystery Adventure, the one you're referring to is called Nancy Drew Mystery Stories, and the paper backs in particular are called the Nancy Drew Digests by most collectors! Also, I do game vs. book comparison posts on my Nancy Drew Collector Instagram (and Facebook but I'm more active on Insta), and I've been hoping someone would make videos like that, so I'm super excited for yours!! I also recently did a post on the River Heights series! I hope you post more videos like this! 😊

NancyDrewCollector thanks for the correction about the series name! I’m so used to describing the PC/Mac games that way because that’s what those are. I shall endeavor to refer to the main book series as Nancy Drew Mystery Stories! 😃

I was excited to see what you got and amazed at how nice all of the books were. They looked to be in really good shape. I have a couple of those I’ve been meaning to read. I want to see the difference between the books and games too. And now I’ll have to check out Powell’s too, because I’ve been all about buying Nancy Drew books during this quarantine. I just read the original text secret of the old clock and I found some similarities to ghost dogs of moon lake. There’s a moon lake referenced and a Jeff who lives on moon lake. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on that one too!

I was surprised by how great the condition of these books were, too! Yeah, I recommend Powells.com, but fair warning: their internal search algorithm is a bit wonky, so if you were trying to find a specific books, try running different searches based on the title or series. I'm hoping to read through and review ALL the books that helped inspire the games! Keep an eye out for my next video! Two games down, many to go!
