If I'm going to be honest, they are thin which is why they're speed boots, but they have some good amount of padding and structure to them. They are really comfortable and I can tell you that they will hold out for awhile.

Ive had mercurial superflys since the 2014 World Cup. The durability is amazing and I play at least two games a week every week. I just now decided its time for an upgrade but the money was well spent. Back then 275 seemed even crazier to pay so if they have the same durability then ill say that they are worth it

So the boots upper do have a padded sensation to me that seem to do offer a little of protection compared to something like a Puma Ultimate or an Adidas X Speedportal. Hope that helps 🙏🏽
