I could be mistaken but I think that’s actually the wrong clip. Looks more like the clip for a Steyr straight pull rifle rather than a Carcano clip.

I used to have one about 20 years ago. I only used black powder reloads in it, due to some sketchy reports concerning service ammo. They are designed to use standard Carcano strippers, as I recall.

I bought a Italian Vetterli 1870/87/15, I had to do some TLC on the stock and cleaned-up the rust on the metal, but it cleaned up nicely! Surprisingly, the bore looks good! Taking apart is interesting though. Once I start reloading, I might shoot mine. I wish I could find a bayonet for it. :(

Thats not too bad. I got a B-grade from them that had like 75%+ blueing remaining, but had a broken rear sight and was missing a barrel band. There is really no consistency to their grading, I think its mostly random selection. Also they sent you a Mannlicher clip lol.

RTI's packing is getting better, a few years ago, it was horrible..

Looks nicer than most things from RTI. That is pretty clean . The question is why it’s posted in the middle of the night and why am I watching it at 4am 😂

I'm thinking of getting one too but just for beauty and historical interest. You seem to have been lucky with the condition in which it arrived. Anyway that's a clip of an Austro-Hungarian Steyr Mannlicher 😆
