I am 76 . back in I believed 68 I bought a used gold top 1956 with P90's or as we called then, soapbars. It had a slightly chunky neck . The best neck I have ever played. A year later I got an early Custom. The all mahogany one. It sounded even better but the neck was thin and the frets were so low it felt like it had none. I sold it. I Then traded the gold top for a red stained 1959 ES 335 as I was a BB King fan and he had a red ES335 on the live at the Regal LP cover. I traded that to a guy from Seattle for an original V. Back then they were all considered just used guitars and if you wanted to you could find another if you waited a month or two at the longest. My elastic limit was $400. I never paid more or got more if I sold a Gibson. THANX for the video. It brought back a lot of good memory's.

The Parsons Street plant is the original Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This one is stamped on the pickguard with the address, so the quality is built in.

Nice guitar. You didn't mention the traditional "Snakehead" headstock design, which provides straighter string pull through that nut, and should provided better tuning stability.

A couple of months ago I picked up a Heritage aged artisan gold top. I bought quite a few Gibsons in my life and have a couple here. I must say out of the box the Heritage was absolutely perfect. Can’t say that about the Lester’s…

I had the H-150 standard dirty lemon finish. Best fret job I've ever seen, including my Suhr. I did send it back though. I couldn't handle the 50's style neck. They are supposedly trying to build up the custom shop to offer different neck profiles. If they do offer a slim taper store neck I'll buy the first one. Unlike Gibson, Heritage pleks their guitars the right way......"completely assembled" rather than just the neck.

Over Black Friday, I tried a Gibson 50's Les Paul with P90's and a Heritage H-150 Standard with P90's. The Gibson was really, really good, but the Heritage leapt out at me. I've tried a few different Les Pauls in the past, but I think this one is the keeper. The Duncan P90's in the Heritage ran a LOT hotter than the ones in the Gibson -- I was surprised to hear how much more crunch there was plugging into the same amp at the same volume. The P90's clean up really nice turned down, and find a perfect "edge of breakup" tone all the way to all the crunch I'll ever want.

I'm not complaining about this i swear 😅 but the "problem" i had with my h150 and still do sometimes is the damn thing sounds so nice that ill find myself just noodling things that sound good instead of actually playing! I'll be on the neck pickup bending the A at the 14th fret G string over and over or just playing a first position E power chord until someone invariably yells a combination of obscenities along with the general instructions to "stop". 😅 it's the best sounding guitar I've ever played

Amazing Les Paul. Darrell, maybe you'd be interested in checking out Maybach guitars. They make very nice traditional guitars. I've got a Lester 59 and a Capitol in Black and in my opinion, they are close to, if not in the Gibson Custom Shop / Murphy Lab territory for way less money. I'd be curious to hear your opinion.

I have mixed feelings on Heritage. The tops tend to be stunning, but the backs leave alot to be desired. I've only seen 3 in person, and they were all Custom Core H150s. Not to say it's any worse than Gibson. It actually reminds me of Kalamazoo style Gibsons from the 80s, which is a good thing. Looks Ace!

Heritage are very well made guitars and are often more expensive than the guitars of which they are copying.. At these price points I would be going for the actual Gibson Les Paul as this is where the true Heritage is found when sourcing this style of guitar build. Great review though..

I really enjoy this channel and appreciate your enthusiasm for both inexpensive to the pricier models. One thing I find lacking though, and there may be a reason for it, is I don't think I've seen you add neck width and fingerboard radius to the specs portion of your videos. Actually on a lot of channels I don't see these numbers brought up and I find this really odd. Fingerboard radius is incredibly important (ok, a least to me!) and I've ruled out lots of guitars because of too narrow a radius. I know other players who feel the same way. Again your videos are terrific, I just wish FB radius and neck width at the 1st and 12th fret would be mentioned, as neck profiles are.

There is a reason why Heritage makes such outstanding LP style guitars and that is because it is the former Gibson employees in the former Gibson Factory in Kalamazoo Michigan building these the way that Gibson had traditionally built LP guitars. They haven't lost touch with what made Les Pauls so sought after and cherished by the Rock Guitarists that paved the way to what music has evolved into today. They have a very bold claim to live up to when they claim to build the Finest American Made Guitars. Here is the thing about Heritage, they employ a higher level of quality control and execute a very meticulous manufacturing etiquette. I work in a guitar retail setting and have played Heritage guitars side by side with Gibson and Epiphone and the experience is like no other as the Heritage just exudes excellence in every way. Please do not get me wrong, Gibson and Epiphone still make quality instruments and either will serve up a great playing experience, but IMO Heritage takes that playing experience to higher levels and more often than not at competitive pricing with a superior fit and finish.

Could you please do the FGN JIL2 "tele" type guitar? It's basically a tele style guitar, made in Japan, and IMO is equal or better than the best factory built Fender Telecasters. FGN is basically a special brand of the Fujigen factory, and AFAIK Fujigen also makes MIJ Ibanez guitars which are amazing. PLease, please, please reveiw one. You will be absolutely blown away.

It’s funny how many people in the comments think these are overpriced compared to the equivalent Gibson. I paid about $5,000 CAD for the custom core artisan aged H-150 when they first dropped. After a few weeks I put my Gibson Murphy Lab ‘59 up for sale because I personally felt the Heritage sounded/played/stayed in tune better. I got $11,800 CAD for the Gibson and walked away $6,800 up on the trade off. The instruments are comparable and it’ll come down to your personal taste, but the pricing definitely isn’t.

Love this channel, always full of interesting items. If you have the money, buy a Gibson, I mean, who wouldn’t? Not for me, the name on the headstock means nothing to me, it’s about how I feel when playing, and of course how it sounds. I’d much rather spend my money on the amp/speaker combo, a good set up can make the cheapest guitar sound great. Nice looking guitar though, if looks is what you are into.Keep up the good work Darrell
