The vertical/horizontal mounting bracket is to attach the BRACKET to either a vertical or horizontal point, NOT have the feeder pointing vertical! As an example, if you don't want to attach it to the 'vertical' side of the Aquarium you can turn the bracket around and attach it to a 'horizontal' shelf above your aquarium. The Feeder itself must always stay horizontal. 👍

Dude u need the manual mode to test how much food it's dropping so that u can adjust the opening

It can't store your adjusted setting memory permanently... It gets reseted whenever you replace any of the batteries... it's a potential drawback of this gadget....
