I'm assuming you want to use the USB-AC68, rather than the other adapter connected to your computer? If that's the case, I recommend you open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings (which is located on the panel to the left), then right click on each network adapter, one at a time, and disable each one, excluding the USB-AC68, obviously.

Personally, I'm blown away by the adapter's speed and range, but it depends on the router (I used the Netgear R7000 for these tests). While performing an Internet throughput test on speedtest.net, it fully utilized all the bandwidth my parent's ISP plan provides, which is 200 Mbps down, 25 Mbps up, and I'm assuming it's even better at transferring large files to other computers over a LAN as the ISP won't restrict the speed. Along with the great speeds this adapter can handle, it's range is considerably good. Through multiple walls and at the edge of a house, it still manages to retain 3/5 bars, along with the speeds I recently mentioned. Overall, I believe this is the best USB WiFi adapter as of now.

Maybe this is clear for everybody but not for me... Does this device give you wifi speed internet itself or just upgrade speed of your existing internet? So you have to have internet connection before you use this adapter to make your internet faster?

torsten73m just in case you aren't memeing. You need to have internet in your home going into a modem, you then need a router to convert your modem's internet into a wireless signal that devices can see and connect to. This device in the video gives a device that doesn't have a way to connect to internet the ability to connect to internet wirelessly, it doesn't speed up anything.

When in intense use (gaming, local video streaming...) I randomly loose the connection and have to manually renew the connection. Sometimes the device even shuts off completely and I have to reboot my pc. I don't think that's an issue with the wifi at my place since the wifi works fine on my laptop which has an integrated wifi card. I have the issues on all my usb3 ports. I suspect a heat issue (the device gets really hot). Does someone have similar issues? When it's working it's pretty good but these random connection losses really ruin the experience so far.

can you please do a test for me. can you create a hotspot (access point) and run a few speed test with your phone? a simple file transfer between phone and computer should do the trick. ES Explorer shows the speed while transfering files. also a simple connection information on the android will show the speed that the phone connected to the wireless addapter.

I get 239 Mbps, with the theoretical max of my ISP that is 250 so I suspect I've reached the ISP's limit rather than the Wifi's limit. Without drivers (default generic windows drivers) I got 20Mbps, with the drivers from the cd I got 75Mbps so be sure to download the latest drivers from the ASUS website to get the best possible rate.

Aamir Irshad If you have a router capable of supplying this adapter with sufficient speeds and range, this will be a great adapter for gaming. As for multiplayer games, depending on the server I'm connected to, my ping is really stable. Along with playing on servers, I've hosted some game servers for friends and the adapter doesn't have any issues when it comes to stability, speed, and response time. Though, if you were to run a full-time dedicated server hosting many players, I would not recommend a wireless connection. Overall, this adapter is more than capable for gaming.

Unfortunately, I don't believe Asus supports Linux operating systems as of now, but they may add support for this device later on. The best USB WiFi adapter I found on Asus's website that supports Linux is their USB-AC56 WiFi adapter (driver link here: www.asus.com/uk/Networking/USBAC56/HelpDesk_Download/), which is only one step down from the AC68. This adapter has a combined total speed of 1,300 mbits/s, and usually retails for around 55 USD.

Yes it can work on Ubuntu, if you are using Linux you shouldn't be as stupid a windows user so you should know that what is important is the chipset not the model, this model (asus ...) as others use RTL8814au which drivers for linux exists and works well

The point is not the O.S. but the Hardware, if this youtuber want to speak about a product he must at least know it! If i ask a 8 years old boy what is a wifi key producted by asus he will say "a key wifi producted by asus".... Tech Range dont even know the chip that is used...if you know the chip you can know the power of bands/transfer/usb and more...the only thing can change, also alot, is the "quality" of signal that is based on number+quality/power of antennas. (more antenna more sensitivity/quality of received signal but a 54mb/s b-g also with 10.000 antennas will do always max 54mb/s). As i said in this case knowing the chip he was able to know that the driver for Linux/Mac exist because it is on the site of Realtek. [Sorry for my bad english]

You definitely Just did a tutorial Video than a review. I wonder how this thing works with 2.4ghz network, I wonder if the ping is consistent, I wonder if it can handle multiple tabs and not lag, Where is the testing rather than the normal speed test that can differ when others use the networks? This video covered the basic of the basic on how to use it. Use more subtitles when you talk about the product, not everyone has them memorized like you do. I was lost for the first min because of the spelling of the product. Video sucks, not helpful, cant be considered a proper review of the product.
