I saw that Wade's box when you opened the big box. I'm a collector and got out my book right away. These are Set 3 (1955) of the First Whimsies Series (1953-1959). There were 10 different sets in the first series. My book is copyrighted 2007 (so 15 years old) and gives these 2007 values: Retriever $40-$45; Shetland Pony $40-$45 and the Badger $40-$45. The missing Stoat $65-$70 and the missing Fox Cub $85-$90. And that is actually the Badger not the Stoat

My grandparents lived in Horseshoe Bay and I’ve spent many months/years there through the 1960’s - 1970’s. I recognized it instantly before you said anything! Yes, totem poles are a huge feature here on the West Coast! I think I know where that piece was bought. There was a gift shop called Jaycee‘s on the main street. A Stoat is a weasel. My mother told me, that back in the 40's 50's , they usually were called ermine and the fur was very popular. Oh yes Chris, Totems are a part of Pacific Northwest native's culture. I grew up in the State of Oregon, and there are Totems all over from different tribes, up in the Seattle area into Eastern Washington state near Spokane. And most definitely in BC and Alaska.

Another great video Chris. I think the rusted metal dish that you picked up after the owl is the insert for the timber wheelbarrow ashtray looks like the right size.
@TheUltimateRecycler2 жыл бұрын
I think it belonged to the owl thing as the ashtray inserts were normally nickel plated brass or EPNS. It matters not now anyway as Christine has claimed the wheelbarrow and the shoe to make pin cushions in! 😲🤣🤣 Thanks James 😊

A love this long-form unboxing format! (And the after-evaluation and price list). Keep them coming! Three items: 1) The pink bird fold-out decoration is a FLAMINGO!, 2) Will you really get $30 for the glider. No Way!, 3) What is the issue with the DDT powder? You didn't say. Keep going Chris!
@ShadowMoonFarms2 жыл бұрын
DDT was banned in the 1970's in most countries. It was used as an insecticide and was determined unsafe.
@TheUltimateRecycler2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Shane! Ah, yes - a Flamingo! Of course! 🤦♂️😆 I'm thinking $30 is reasonable for that. Oil company promotional stuff usually sells pretty well! I'll try and remember to let you know if it sells 😊 As Cynthia has said it was banned in the 70s in most countries - I think it was shown to be a carcinogenic compound!

Quick question: I've heard from yourself and others in the industry that in recent years the market has really declined for bone china (Royal Doulton, Wedgewood, etc). What do you think has caused the decline? Cheers, 😉
@TheUltimateRecycler2 жыл бұрын
It certainly has SS. Even worse for antique furniture! People with money to spend on collectables just aren't interested in bone china anymore! I think the internet has changed values and desirability of many things since the 1990s and I doubt classic antiques /china will ever really come back to high value.
