Please stop comparing Relic guitars to buying a new car & asking for it to be smashed up a bit. Think of it more like buying new shoes & asking for them to be broken in. Its also a huge visual thing - some people love it, some people hate it, but the visual is so subjective no opinion is right or wrong. Lets make love not war people :)

I used to think that it wasn't right to relic guitars but now my opinion is the exact opposite. I MUST own one!!! 😂😂😂

In the US you can get a brand new custom built car, modified into a monster but it has an aged look. Classic sleepers. I think it's cool.

I had a relic'd partscaster and it is the single best guitar I have ever owned in my entire life. Selling it is also the single BIGGEST REGRET I have. Having a guitar that feels and looks broken in does wonders for the creativity and drive to continue making music.

Judging from the choices made, and Lee's Face, as he saw them, That's the last time Pete get's to Order from Fender Custom Shop, Master Builders, on his Own? Out of all of them, there's 4 nice ones, and 2 the same, and a couple Of No Chance's

As someone aged late 60s, I still can’t get my head around the Fender custom shop making a beautiful guitar look all bashed about. I always grumble at myself whenever I make a ding or scratch on any of my guitars; however they are my own scratches and wear marks.
@jazenka99
@jazenka99 Жыл бұрын
I think for people that resell guitars, having it factory bashed up does not devalue it as much as you dingning your own guitar, which is an intersting dichotomy in the guitar world.

I just realized how good the Dane is......such deep expression and pure tone and emotion. The two tele's with the neck P90's (Gold one, Black one) sounded AMAZING ! The gold strat and the candy red strat had that 'single note lead tone' vibe in spades.

So, between fender and Gibson, who makes the best custom shop guitars? NOT considering different pickups and sounds and that LP’s are LP’s and Strats are strats, we all know they are completely different guitars, BUT, just the quality and attention to detail and love that goes into making the pinnacle guitars of each company?

I get some people don't like relics... But it's just like buying a distressed pair of jeans or t shirt. Sure, not everyone likes it... But enough people do like it for guitar companies to keep doing em. Relics certainly feel better than a new shiny guitar

Amazing playing Pete! Just a little suggestion I guess (obviously you guys know how to sell a guitar better than anyone) but maybe play with a little more “bite” when showing the guitars? The chords and more delicate playing sounds beautiful and is very useful to hear, but I’m also longing for a super fat overdriven Stevie Ray Vaughan type tone to hear how the guitar performs in both settings. Again, amazing playing Pete!

The relic concept is a brilliant marketing move by Fender. It happened at a time when vintage (i.e., naturally relic'd) guitars started selling for big bucks. And though it is derided by some, I love it, at least to a point (some are ridiculously overdone, though Jeff Beck's Esquire and Rory Gallagher's Strat were proof there is some validity in OTT relicing). Let's face it, many guitarists buy guitars the way many people purchase cars - if the colour is cool, out comes the wallet. And why not? So why pay $50,000. for a cool looking vintage Strat when one that sounds and plays as well or better can be had for a tenth of the price or less? Mind, I'm not so sure if I'd want a beat up Gretsch or PRS, possibly because there are no notable examples of a well-worn Gretsch, and PRS is still relatively new and arguably too precious to 'beat up'. Or maybe it's because the nitro finish of vintage Fenders was susceptible to wear and tear, so that look is unique to that brand? Whatever, Fender's relic'd concept works great on its guitars and is one of the outstanding marketing mods from any company providing any instrument in the music market.
