I just ordered the 3rd edition of this game. Really looking forward to playing. Thanks for the video! Keep on gaming!

Great look at a great game. Spent a lot of time battling the Romans with the 1st edition... Looks like it might be time to upgrade. Oh and 'Sarissa' - long spear or pike used by Macedonian phalanx 😀

I'm working my way up from Commands & Colors Ancients and eventually into SPQR...gotta take my wargamer baby steps. Your vids are consistently excellent and timely. By the way, that 'single d10 in a baggie' has slaughtered tens of thousands of the best soldiers from every nation in the ancient world. :)

You can do it. Just don't ever stop playing or you'll hit the learning curve again. Stop for 15 minutes 37 minute refresher will get you back in the game. 3 hour break? Open the book to table of contents again.

oooohhh mannnn I want this game so bad! The art on the counters are so amazing. Hope to see a review sometime soon :D

RE Samurai. Same system, more 'fiddly' rules to keep in mind; knowledge of Japanese History extremely recommended. PS. Several of the SPQR scenarios have two of the maps linked up, so it's not just line up the armies and Bash Away.

Elephants, Fishing and Bacon and you have the ultimate game.

There is actually a spray that they use for that "nice new game smell". Little bit of trivia.
@ThePlayersAid5 жыл бұрын
Can anyone else confirm this? I want to believe!

I know it is a common practice for many products that are boxed. I was surprised myself when I found out.
@deploribusrex44805 жыл бұрын
Does it include atomized crack cocaine as an active ingredient? I wouldn't be surprised at all. I always believed GMT to be drug dealers, lol (as has my bank account).

@@deploribusrex4480 Used to play a miniatures game called 'Heroclix' by WizKids. We referred to the miniatures as 'plastic crack'! Once you started collecting, it was very difficult to stop. Probably used the same formula as GMT. (just kidding, of course)

i really want to get this game but it's a bit expensive and it looks massive. plus my wife and i have enough trouble with Combat Commander, so I can't even imagine how complex this game is compared to CC.
@ThePlayersAid4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, there's the Simple GBoH, which I'm reading at the moment, and it's honestly not bad. No more complex that CC.

I wanted this too. I fell in love with the idea of it and the components...until I saw how complex it was. I need to see some gameplay videos before dropping 3 figures on it.
@ThePlayersAid5 жыл бұрын
Yes, we're slowly digesting the rules to give it a go soon. Maybe look at the Simple GBoH system first?
@caomhan845 жыл бұрын
...And I actually did just that. I'm amazed that there are some NOS, still shrinkwrapped copies of these GBoH games around for very decent prices. When I started looking, I thought "An out of print wargame from GMT? $125 easy." But I actually found "Chandragupta" for $50! Found "Samurai" and "Ran" for similar prices. Chandragupta won out though, because, well....war elephants. :)

How big is the map area for the scenarios? Most look like double maps?
@ThePlayersAid5 жыл бұрын
Most are only one mappers, there's only a few massive ones. I'll have to get back to you with details.
