Unboxing the Canon R5 or R6?

Wow. Exciting, be interesting to see in a more practical/non-specs sense, what you get from R6 over the M6. What lens/lenses are you starting with on the R6?

Right now I am primarily using my Canon 400mm on the R6 for wildlife. The only other lens I have that is not meant for crop sensor cameras is the the 50mm 1.8. I got the R6 for the animal eye detect and the IBIS. It's going to be interesting to see how this camera will fit into my workflow. Do I keep it? Will I sell my M6 and get another R6 or the R7 when it come out? For what I do is the R6 going to be the right camera for me. All questions I need to figure out before the end of January.

I've been using it like crazy. I don't think it's a good fit for what I do. It's a great camera, but probably not the right one for me. Probably sending it back and wait for the R7 to come out later in 2021. I don't need full frame.

Yes they are, but I think this one is going back. I have been using it like crazy over the past few days and I don't think it's a good fit for what I do. Great camera, but not great for what I need or do. I still have a few days to figure out if I will keep it, but I'm leaning toward no.

Unfortunately, it's a Christmas present that is going back. It's not the right camera for me. Just because it's a great camera does not mean it's great for me. I'm going to have to wait and get the R7 if and when it comes out in 2021.

@@faspete2nd R7 seems exciting. I like my m6 because it is small and compact. I used to have heavier DSLRs but they were too hard to carry. Therefore, the M6 fits perfectly. Tried with Sony first but went crazy on the menu system. We will have to wait and see what R 7 or maybe M7 has to offer in the future. Keep up the good work and have a merry Christmas.

Congratulations! I have the EOS R and the M6 MKII probably not getting a new camera for some time.

Unfortunately, I sent it back. After 3 weeks with it I determined it was not the right camera for me. I am going to hold off until the R7 comes out or save up some more money and get the R5 and the RF 800mm.

Hi Peter, I assume u bought the canon R5/6 because of the similar optics/colour profile of your M6 II, but apart from that there is no crossover between the two systems ie lenses? The reason I ask is we have m6 II and would like a new camera as either a back up or as a new main camera cheers sandy

That is the issue I am struggling with right now. The only 2 lenses I own that are compatible with the R6 is my 50mm 1.8 and the 400mm 5.6. I got the R6 primarily to shoot wildlife with my 400mm and take advantage of the IBIS and animal eye detect, but it's a lot of camera to have just to do that 1 thing with that 1 lens. I mentioned this in my other comments, but I will need to seriously think about how this fits into my workflow and determine if it is worth keeping or do I send it back.

My initial thoughts are amazing, but for what I do it might be too much camera for what I need. I will be using it a lot over the next 2 weeks and I will have a better idea if I keep it or send it back. Being a content creator you know how beneficial it is having 2 camera bodies for KZbin, but I'm just not sure if having a beast of a camera like the R6 is going to be overkill. Maybe a stop gap camera before the R7 comes out? Time will tell.
