Unboxing the 2024 NKJV Shepherd in Sahara Blue with Full Yapp from Humble Lamb!!
The cover of this version is the Sahara Blue Goatskin with full yapp. It is a moderately thick yet flexible leather that has a lovely texture and feels very durable and luxurious. It is a dark shade of blue and somewhat shiny.
The cover has perimeter stitching as well as tooling on the front and back that lines up with the edges of the text block. It has rather chunky spine hubs that look and feel nice to the touch and reinforce the spine. The cover is edge-lined with a goatskin liner. It features a shepherd's staff debossing on the rear cover and has three heavy 10mm ribbons of a nice length.
The Humble Lamb NKJV Shepherd is a single-column, paragraph layout. It features cross-references in the outer margin and translator's notes at the bottom of the page. The paper is 32 GSM with a slight texture, which has a very nice weight and feel with minimal ghosting.
The bible text from the first page of Genesis to the last page of Revelation spans pages 3 through 1822. The books of the Bible do not generally begin on their own page. They typically pick up on the same page where the preceding book ended. This is sure to keep the Bible slimmer as it requires fewer pages, although I do prefer when each book begins on its own page.
The lines of biblical text are line-matched. The words of Christ are in blue, which is one of the unique features of this Bible and a sharp departure from the traditional red accent color. All of the verse numbers and section headings are black. Chapter numbers are two lines tall. Paragraphs are indented.
This Bible features one of two fore-edge art designs featuring Christ as shepherd. I chose the design of Christ holding the lamb. It is a lovely design and the execution is just as beautiful.
This Bible also features 66 illustrations from Gustave Doré in black and white. If you, like me, have an appreciation for Christian artwork and artful depictions of biblical scenes, these are a wonderful addition that enhances the reading experience.
Overall, this is a very nice Bible, as any Bible should be at this price. Humble Lamb has really grown as a company and in the quality of Bibles they publish. I am especially impressed with the quality of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the beauty of the fore-edge artwork. This is a beautiful Bible that should las a lifetime. I am considering trying this as my daily Bible and I might post a follow-up review then.
