It really is nice having this tooling system in our Tornos GT32! Already two setups on it and I gotta say Goltenbodt really thought of everything!!!

I would love to see more thorough testing of repeatably. The shop I work in we do almost exclusively tight tolerance parts in all ranges of materials. This system looks awesome especially since half of a setup could be done before the running job finishes with the right planning and enough tools, holders, ECT. At my shop we have mostly switched to a tool holder that goes in the normal wedge style slot, but it has a detachable head so you can remove it to replace the insert while all the plumbing stays in place. Setup is just as much hassle, but once running, insert changes are easy and extremely fast. They have heads for threading, turning, grooving, and probably other types of inserts. With that system we don't have to retouch off just because the insert wore out and was replaced, and it repeats to a couple tenths or less. I can't remember the name of them unfortunately!

@@mgk1397 from what I can tell they repeat within .0002-.0004” pretty much no problem. Do you have a certain type of request for a test I can do?

How about machining a sphere profile on front of part (a small flat on front face of sphere profile would need to be present for use in measuring the part later). Complete the front half of sphere profile completely thru the crest & halfway down the backside of the sphere profile. Transition into a square shoulder & machine a short linear length of some specific diameter by stepping towards the spindle face using a dogbone groover. Cut the part off. Essentially the finished part would looks something like a sphere shaped lolipop with a short stick coming out of one end. Remove all tools from the block, dunk the modular tools in some coolant, clean that coolant from each tool's registering surfaces, then reinstall the tools & rerun another part. Measure sphere & other diameter with digital mic. Check all linear lengths on part by standing the part vertically on the table of optical camparator, sphere end down on table (the purpose of that small diameter flat on front face of part mentioned above). Sounds like alot of part from the over-described ,machinist grade, mental picture that i tried to paint for you, but its really not. Im open for suggestions if everybody thinks this idea sucks. I'm VERY curious how well the modular syatems can repeat. Im in charge of machine & tooling purchases for my company & I desperately want to bring Swiss machining into our business. Ive always heard stories of stupid amounts of time changing over jobs on swiss machines but i believe this equipment has its place in small to medium batch quantity, high precision job shop environments & a test like this would go a long way in providing a good example of just how high precision these machines have become. Are they really ready to help Job Shops compete? Or are these still only a mainstay in high production, low turnover environments? Please show us. 🙏

Maybe even take my suggestion a step further & change the inserts between parts and reset them with the product's presetter?

@@mgk1397 And w/ a few extra change holders, you can just pop out tired insert and pop in fresh one loaded and ready to go. Minimum down time

Impressive tool system and love to watch your videos. In regards of touching off your tools with this system you still need to do that in case of new setup and you want to have your tools perfectly on center. This is only my opinion other guys may think different.

Goeltenbodt is a quality tool holding system. I sold 4 sets for 4 new Tsugamis,it was around, 😊36,000. About $9K / machine. And it had some drill holders

What coolant are you running or is it the Blaser Swiss oil? How does this work with the toolholder geometry from Tornos since it isn't a tornos toolholder?

Does the modular tool gang accept tool holders from other brands, or just theirs? And does it allow for coolant through tool, or just through the block? Thanks!
@mgk1397
@mgk1397 6 ай бұрын
I didn't see any thru tool coolant, which could be somewhat of a disappointment, but the clamping system in the tool block appears to clamp on a stand holder shank. Unless they use odd/proprietary sizes.
@donniehinske
@donniehinske 6 ай бұрын
There are two types of coolant thru for the blocks. One is the 3 holes shown in the video the other is an adjustable line that can be aimed at the tool tip. I am not aware of any way to plumb to the back of a tool for thru coolant but I also can’t really see too much of a need for that
@user-gr3mq2zq7g
@user-gr3mq2zq7g Ай бұрын
The Goeltenbodt fixtures accept ANY brand shank. Does NOT require a proprietary brand. I personally recommend the Schwanog brand. And yes, you can plumb coolant through the actual tool holder.

This is so unrealistic to the common people in this business. Job shops can’t afford this type of setup/tooling, let alone making there payments on there Swiss machines. Love what you guys show and teach but come to terms on how to start up and maintain a job shop… especially a Swiss shop.

What if someone paid off their Swiss machine and is now looking for ways to improve their processes through reduction in setup time, etc… We are showing solutions for whoever might need them, we’re not saying, go out and buy this even if you’re cash poor and struggling.. it’s just so people know what’s out there and how it can help them.

Even at a job shop it’ll reduce set up time. And your tools will last longer because of hp tooling and imagine being at a production shop like most Swiss houses with lack of competent operators you need to make it easy for those guys

Personally I can’t imagine any of these tooling systems are as rigid as traditional wedge type holders either, that sleeve holder looks neat but I really question how it’d hold up to a decent size U-drill. As slick as this system looks it just seems like more to go wrong.
