Like you've said all along. 1 1/2 car garage is tight quarters. Beautiful workmanship by BMP! On the loose chip, put a small piece of mouse glue board on a stiff wire. A magnet for aluminum.

Thank you X. It’s going to be a 588. I made a early video with a really poor sound quality that talks about the crank and how I acquired it. It’s was my first piece and I got it back in 1998 on a trade deal. It was a 4.5” stroke with Chrysler rod pin diameter. I had it offset stroked to 4.625” and 2.200” diameter rod pin so I could run the smaller big block Chevy rod bearing. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it. My goal is to get better at making videos and sharing the experience. It’s starting to get fun :)

@@mr.x1510 yes sir. My idea here is to add torque for the heavy weight of the street car and the lack of cylinder pressure due lowering the static compression ratio do to the use of pump gas.

Nice looking block as far as i can tell , That was another reason i finally said ok time to move on i was told that the main caps AND block was not designed to handle serious power . on the wedge . A good block with priority main bearing oiling and cylinders that stayed round for good ring seal . ect ect .

@@griffittsgarage Thank you. Just put it on the stand this week. Nothing set in stone other than the block, but leaning towards a 540ci build (4.25" stroke) which will allow for an internal oil pick up. Mostly likely use a 7.1 rod with a 2.2" journal. Prepped Edelbrock Hemi heads. Doing my homework before I select a piston and camshaft. I also have no idea what rocker assembly to use, but I'd like the engine to run reliably on the street if I choose. Planning on running the traditional dual four carb set up on it. I'd love to go fuel injection, but I'm just not sure yet. Thinking a 750-850HP combo shouldn't be too hard to achieve.

When I got my block the screw in water plug at the back of the engine would not seal and I had to get a 1" NPT tap and cut 3 threads off to open the threads for more plug thread contact without hitting the cylinder wall that was close.

Glad to have come across your video this morning!! Currently rebuilding my Cast iron block 287ci mopar, so nowhere near the size or displacement as your build lol. Not to familiar with the engine company you went with but looking at the quality they turned out, i'd imagine you have quite the good foundation to make a solid build!! When you made mention of the 4.5" bores and the weight of your block in clarification, and noted that a SB Chevy block came in at 100lbs. With 4" bores I chuckled...(Thinking of how lite an aluminum 287 block would be)..lol My build had 3.66 bores, since bored out .50 over, with all forged internals(minus hyperuetectic pistons)...Anyway, Awesome video man, cant wait to see the Progress!! Many Blessings!!

Hey good morning and thanks for the comment! This aluminum 588 is sorta my dream build, but I have to say, I like building the small displacement engines also. What does the rest of your 287 combination and car look like? What heads, intake, cam ? I have a fun little 323 in my daily driver Dart. 68 forged crank, rods, flat top 9.5 to 1 Hypereutectic pistons, lunati voodoo cam, fully ported magnum heads with a 2.055” intake valve, ported crosswinds intake, and a 750 Holley, through a hand made exhaust system. Sooo much fun in a little slot car a-body. And, Thank you for subscribing

Looks awesome! I was hoping you would compare the cast iron vs aluminum like the webbing etc, the cast blocks are known to crack between the cam and crank. How has it worked out so far any passes or dyno runs on it yet?

Brother I race with people all the time and if your not putting boost to that block you should be able to run good forged rods and pistons instead of aluminum that engine will definitely get you to the 10s easy and further you pretty much bought a promod engine for a street car and gonna run it without a power adder you have a badass crank and rockers lifters you have all the right parts if you go with nitrous check out induction solutions or NX express there great companies I like the content though bro I have a bad ass raised cam 10/2 dart aluminum 427 with twin forced inductions 80/88s hair dryers.
